Cain had a worse outing than Vogey. Do you want to dump him to after one start? You have to give Vogey at least 5-8 starts to see how he will react. You don't give up on players after one sub par start in 2014.

That wasn't your beef -- you said that it was just a "couple of solo shots."

It wasn't...he nibbled and shat the bed.

As for Cain...look at the track record. Cain will be fine. Tron will be gone. He'll get another 4 starts or so but he'll be gone.

How does a team that scores 8 runs in two innings then go 22 batters without ONE hit?

Just weird.

The turmoil in the doggiehouse before the game rattled Ryu, I would guess.

Then the doggies strength (bully) showed up. Good thing we wore them out a bit in game 1.

GIANTS WIN 8-4 Round 1 goes to the Giants who now are 4-1 on the year. I am expecting a dog fight all year. Big day for the Giants bullpen and the Giants score a bunch early on in the game. I just sent some orange roses to Puig thanking him for a great day. I hope he enjoyed the bench splinters in his ass for being late to the ballpark.

Go Giants !!

Volgelsong worries me, besides hitting 93mph, he didn't look much different than last year. Escobar starts for AAA tonight or tomorrow. I'm watching him closely these first few starts.

Thank god we hit Ryu. Bullpen went 7 hit-less innings, 10Ks, one-baserunner.

Like I said. Put the miles on their bully now so they have one less arrow in their quiver tomorrow.

We are well positioned to take 2 of 3 (at least) now.

I'll take a W with our 5th starter on the mound versus a guy who had 2 starts under his belt, and was un-scored upon. This game wasn't perfect, but there was certainly a lot of good about it. Bum has probably been looking forward to getting his last start behind him as well. I expect a low-scoring game tomorrow.

Who are doggies sacrificing, I mean starting, tomorrow?

Edit: Maholm. Our 1 vs their 6. I like the odds.

Some thoughts:

The Giants have scored 1st in every game so far. Last year, they won 61.5% of the games they scored first (winning 33.3% of games they don't score first)

The Giants have already had 4 innings of scoring four or more runs. They had 14 such innings all last season.

Of the Giants' 31 runs, an amazing 25 have been scored with two outs.

The Giants are hitting .447, wait for it, wait for it, with RISP!

The Giants have given up 22 runs (16 earned).

They have 8 shutdown innings, and 6 non-shutdown innings (57.1%) That's not going to get it done! (2013 was 76.3% shutdown innings)

I like what I am seeing on offense, but am concerned about the defense nor pitching.

It is a SSS, yes it is.:nod::nod:

We'll take the 4-1 start.

Question: last year, when the Giants raised the pennant, and got their rings, etc, they didn't seem to play well. Perhaps too much going on to focus on baseball? The Dodgers struck me as being like that today. Add to that Puig being late, how much of a factor was that in disrupting the team? First home game after traveling to Australia, raising the NL West pennant, lots of excitement. Puig doesn't show on time for that. What's up with THAT?

Go Giants!

Yep, and 6-7 today with RISP.

As for being no-hitted for the last seven innings, maybe they're saving some for tomorrow.

And after two innings today, one poster urged Vogey to go for a no-hitter. Well, the poster got his wish, sort of. A fabulous example of the reverse jinx.
