The problem is when he pitches well and his trade value goes up, the Sox always seem to think he's untouchable because he's "finally figured it out". Then he goes and pitches like shit and scares all suitors away.

Why the hell is that terrible to say? That's the kind of honesty this world needs more of.

"
OTD: The first hit of 4,256
On this date in 1963, Reds 2B Pete Rose got his first career hit -- a triple. Twenty-three years and 4,255 hits later, he retired with the most career hits in MLB history."

you said "wait for my monday excuses" friday..

i have none

i'll take 2 of 3 anyday

dirt and i texted last night...he said they were talking at the bar, and they feel "worst team since the mid 80's".

So third place like I predicted, since the Yankees finished 2nd in 85 & 86. Now worst team since 90 I would agree with. The hitting will improve, no team can hit .190 for a whole season, but .230 might be a lofty goal. Drew and Pretty Gorgeous will improve their defense which will help the pitching. In the end you have an average team that finishes right at.500. And according to Cowboy, .500 is a winning record.

that was fucking ugly last night.

They took 2 of 3 on the road against a division opponent. Sure the lose was ugly but it's still a good trip

The other team discussed here:

A lot of talk about their Minors, but after Lars Anderson, Will Middlebrooks, and Jackie Bradley how much stock can you put into the reports? An offense that puts up runs with the league leaders, but will have to because of pitching that will have more games like last night.

In other words take the Rays out of the equation and the other four teams will all finish within five games of first.

Jackie Bradley would start on numerous MLB times right now. He shouldn't be dumped in the same class as Anderson. And I'd note that Middlebrooks is, in fact, starting on the Padres. Neither have lived up to expectations, but I wouldn't imply that they are busts.

Does anybody else think Aaron Harang looks like a bad guy from a Disney movie?

LOL I can see that. He is pitching well today, just like he did in his first start of the season.

LOL a career .196 hitter would start on numerous teams. Yes Middlebrooks is starting on the Padres, but he is also a player that got sent down twice because he can't hit MLB pitching. Neither one is anywhere close to being what the so called experts were saying they would be.

JBJ's got about one year of PAs under his belt at ages 23 and 24. His defense is gold glove caliber (if not better considering Jeter won a few). I'd think the White Sox, Mets, Rangers, Astros, Dbacks, Phillies, and Blue Jays would start him over what they've been doing right now.

If Bradley can figure out the strike zone and even be a merely below average hitter, his defense would make him a very useful 4th OF.
