Not really a tough one. The math shows your expected points are much higher on 3 pointers than posting up. Ball don't lie.

Not really a tough one. The math shows your expected points are much higher on 3 pointers than posting up. Ball don't lie.

But the percentage of makes is lower. I do think that the shots from just inside the 3 point line to about 10 or so feet out is pretty inefficient (unless the player is really good at it) compared to the paint and compared to the 3 point line (when you factor in the extra points).

Yes this is true, there's no lower expected points value than a long 2. But once you get out to a 3, especially a corner 3, it's a significantly higher point-scoring play than a post up.
