Brazil over promised on what the could deliver for the WC and summer Olympics.

Most if the country is still 3rd world status when it comes to infrastructure and crime. High taxes. Sky high inflation. Lots of the rivers and ocean fronts away from the main rio tourist areas are loaded with garbage and raw sewage. Water quality for consumption is reported to be really bad, even in the areas where the soccer matches will be held.

You always hear these reports leading up to events like this in the dumpy countries, but Brazil has got some very bad problems right now and all the organized crime and unions are piling on with the blackmail to get a piece of the pie.

Best part of this is that I am not fully educated on this roster as much I as was in the past..... I'll admit I'm shock Donovan didn't make squad... whether he actually played a significant role or minutes that's a different story.

Julian Green making it and MOST likely not seeing the field, not sure where Klingsmann is going here unless he has a plan as a sub in which I would be surprised(in a good way).

Just noticed, no Shea? I was actually a fan of his...

and let me say it right here.... Wondolowski is OVERRATED.... that guy gets overblown in the CONCACAF games...

he finds ways to chip goals but he won't get those at the WC level against legit International squads... sorry I just had to let that be known.

Wondo can put the ball in the net though, and he is always working. He works off the ball well and can force himself into plays by doing so. He's also fairly consistent coming off of the bench.

I've never been a big Breck Shea fan. For as many times as he comes into a game and plays decently, there are 3 or 4 games where he looks totally lost.

Agreed, not a fan of Shea. It's not uncommon to see him getting abused by players that are even moderately fast.

Wondo has the knack for scoring, that can't be disputed... I don't see his style of play or his skillset individual as a difference maker in the striker/forwards position at this International level...

But as you allude, coming off the bench will most likely be his role. So I can't really gripe on that...

Not crazy about Beckerman either.

Agreed. I am interested to see what his role is on this team. I would have figured Deuce and Bradley (guys who aren't going to come off the field) would have the attacking/defensive midfield pretty locked.

Beckerman seems to play too slowly in international games, and with the guys ahead of him, I just can't picture him seeing the field, especially with the group we're in..

Mistake leaving him off IMO. No he probably shouldn't be starting or playing a ton of minutes, but bring him in with 10 minutes left if tied and maybe it gives the whole team some juice or keeps them from freaking out at crunch time. I think they are a better team with him (even if mostly on the sideline) than without him.

I just don't get why Bedoya and Wondolowski who like calamity said above is way over fucking rated got ahead above Donovan.

We have yet to have a guy proven to be clutch on this team besides Donovan. Dempsey and Jozy can score sure as well as a lot of the young guys. They aren't the guys who get goals when we desperately need them like LD

Buddy of mine brought up a good point. Would Donovan on the bench be an unwanted distraction? Say we're tied or down a goal late and somebody else gets put in, does that create a problem? I mean really the top what 13-15? will actually play, if Donovan isn't amongst them is it worth having him sit on the bench?

I dunno. I'm not all in on Donovan, I'm not sure if this is the right move one way or another.

Don't agree with Donovan sitting at home, but JK has forgotten more than I know about this game. I will just have to trust that it's the right decision even though it doesn't feel right at all.
