There were a couple of here on this board that wanted James Bradberry and Jamal Dean last year, I'm inclusive of those few, and neither of those players played well last year.

Player X, playing for another team, doesn't always work positively in a new scheme along with the players surrounding them.

Powers-Johnson is still my preferred pick if hebis there at 29. Adds depth for now, future center.

Same for me.
I love the nastiness he brings; however, I'd question if Holmes would draft him after having signed Glasgow AND Zeitler.
Holmes will always draft players for the now and the future - i.e., Sorsdal and Brodic Martin, but I cannot envision Holmes spending a first-round pick having Jackson Powers-Johnson sitting for a year even when you consider JPJ having that 5th year option.

Also, I couldn't see JPJ winning a competition to start over Glasgow or Zeitler in training camp. JPJ has only one year as a starting Center and was originally signed to Oregon as a defensive Lineman before switching to offensive lineman. I believe JPJ had 6-8 starts other than the 13 starts his last year.

I'm simply being pessimistic and I'm well aware that Jameson Williams and James Mitchell were injured players that he drafted all the while knowing not to expect much from either during their rookie season.

I think Lions fans are going to be in for another huge surprise come the first night of the draft.

Just a guess with how Holmes has approached this off-season and how they see the draft unfolding before their pick. Holmes stated previously that they run several versions of how they perceive other teams will draft. I forget how many simulations he stated they run but it was high volume numbers.

I certainly didn't watch many CFB games last season other than Bama and Michigan, so my take shouldn't be regarded as anything of value.

One of the highlight films I watched, I saw Kneeland on the ground far too often and stymied at the L.O.S. all too often or completely washed out of the play. He does possess a very quick and good change of direction skillset. In that first video, at the 3:58 mark, he lines up in a wishbone formation and scores the touchdown. He's somewhat raw, but I can see the potential in him. He also can drop into coverage and do that fairly well against smaller school competition.

I like Bama's Chris Braswell as a possible SAM LB. He sat behind Will Anderson Jr. and Dallas Turner for 2-years, so he's not a stat producer but he has lots of untapped potential in the right system and the right players around him.

This signing bodes extremely well for Goff, Monty and Gibbs.

Last season, according to PFF, Zeitler was ranked 15th in overall offensive grade for guards who played at least 20% of snaps with a grade of 71.6. When it came to pass blocking, he was ranked second with a grade of 82.5, while run blocking wasn’t as strong, getting a grade of 62.4, ranking him tied for 27th.

His overall PFF grade history has been very solid, with his worst year being in 2020 with a grade of 65.9. Outside of 2020, his grades have been in the range of 71.6 to 88. Zeitler is a better pass blocker than run blocker, as his grade ranges have been between 68.7 and 91.7. His run blocking isn’t his greatest strength as his range of grades for that has been between 59.7 and 82.8.

It is crazy that the Lions replaced the weakest link of their oline with an upgrade, and likely will get a comp pick out of the deal. It does age up the line a bit, but while we have these vets Holmes should be taking some solid prospects to learn behind them. I like Holmes offseason so far, going into the draft with no glaring needs makes for some awesome opportunities.

The signing of Zeitler will likely move Glasgow back over to left guard, where he started his career in 2016. While Glasgow had his best year at right guard, Zeitler has only 12 snaps at left guard in his 12-year career. It will be easier to move Glasgow back to left guard and slide Zeitler into right guard, rather than have Zeitler learn left guard. Also, Glasgow is close friends with Ragnow and Decker, so there is a natural chemistry there.

The only other 2 O-Lineman I would hope or wish to be drafted is Taliese Fuaga or Troy Fautanu and that is extremely doubtful.

Glasgow might regress a little between moving to left and age, but he will be between Decker and Ragnow as well. Even if both guards regress a little they are still a better line than last year. Pending health of course.

That is the dream. It lets him learn under some greats, and makes it so if an injury happens we are still good. Plus all 3 in the middle are either older, or have considered retirement. Lions need to spend picks on the line every year to try and keep it going.

Glasgow might regress a little between moving to left and age

Glasgow did not play well at LG when Ragnow took over the starting job at Center in 2019. Ragnow's first year was at LG and then starting Center.

Glasgow has played much better as an RG than at LG or even Center, however, in a pinch, he's serviceable at Center.

The only other 2 O-Lineman I would hope or wish to be drafted is Taliese Fuaga or Troy Fautanu and that is extremely doubtful.

Fautanu is in the top 15 of a lot of boards (although outside top 30 on some too). I dont see him being there. Fuaga has almost no shot. We probably wont be looking at tackles anyway.
