Listen, all that " different type of team " stuff is just lipstick on a pig.

This is essentially a development year for your young guys.

Lance, Rondo, Mcgee, KCP are one year placeholders for capspace.

The reason the Lakers aren't going all in on Kawhi is because they know that, even if they get him, he and LeBron are not enough to win a championship.

Might as well keep your assets and try to sign him outright.

But, it's a development year because one of the young guys needs to turn into that 3 rd guy or the lot of them will get traded for one.

No, you aren't taking.

But, you are not a legit contender either as currently constructed.

Win your 46-50 games, win a playoffs series, and go after a star next summer without losing any of your young players.

You're not beating the Warriors this year.

Idea is save as much cap as possible and go for more big pieces NEXT season...

Basically what she said is that LBJ is ok with the team not being title contenders this season which is true.

There is a reason why he signed a 4 yr deal with no opt outs. He understands this is a process and he probably won't compete for a title until the 2019-2020 season

Taking the year off sounds like he would be goofing off and not trying much.

Letting the year ride sounds like he understands the situation. Will give his all but knows a title/making the finals is highly unlikely

But, I kinda took it in the sense of rolling with who you have, getting as far as you can, until you can add a big piece without decimating the roster...

Example....The Spurs without Kawhi....

That Griz team that went to the Playoffs without Gasol and Conley a few years back.

Neither teams were tanking.

But, they weren't playing for rings either.

They let the year play out with who they had.
