Yeah. I get the mantra, Oak.

I know the recruiting service that has the Huskers the highest is the most accurate. The rest are shit that don't know what they're talking about.
Unless they eventually rank Nebraska higher than the others. Then they'll be most accurate.

Nope. 247 has been considered the best for a while now. Nothing to do with where the Huskers are. I know that goes against your Debbie downer pissy mood lately.

I can go back a couple years where Scout had Nebraska higher than the other services.

It's no accident that neither of you are realists.

I went back and read some of the 2017 recruiting thread. Months of high hopes turned to depression in the final month as all those stars began fading away.

Comes with the territory of ending the season in a tailspin, it's like Groundhog Day year after year, idk If this class finishing out the way we need it to will survive going 8-4 or less, the staff seems to think so

Don't look now but Steve Wiltfong just put in a Crystal Ball for Nebraska to land Micah Parsons (5-Star OLB). He has a top three of OSU (which he just visited), PSU (home state school) and Nebraska. The interesting thing is, OSU and PSU want him as a 4-3 DE but his skill set is perfect for a 3-4 OLB, he would start day one here and it wouldn't be close. If this happens our defense will look a lot different the next three years with that talent on the edge. He could rush the passer, stop the run and cover better than any of our current LBers on the roster.

Good move on his part. Now 10's of thousands of Husker fans will look this guy up and read his content.

But yea we won't get the kid.

The guy was rooting for us to pull out the win last week jjm, seemed genuine in the podcast I listened to a few days ago. I don't think the kid ends up here either for the record

Yep. I've alluded to that more than once, particularly under the bo pleeny regime.

If you're consistently hovering around the high teens/low twenties in the polls and drop 2 of your last 4 games then you'll end the season unranked. All of the"new this/new that" is fine early in the season, but by the last 4 games (including the bowl) there shouldn't be any more 'new' anything barring a starting QB injury. You're either getting better as a team or you're not. 9 times out of 10 this is coaching.
Nebraska has finished the season 'unranked' four years in a row now. I.E. Irrelevant.
2016 - NR (ranked #17 before losing last 2)
2015 - NR (won 3 of last 4, but overall record 6-7)
2014 - NR (ranked #11 before losing 3 of last 4)
2013 - NR (unranked at 7-2, but lost 2 of last 4)
Prior to that it was..
2012 - #25 (ranked #14 before losing CCG and bowl.)
2011 - #24 (ranked #17 before losing 2 of last 3, including bowl)
2010 - #20 (ranked #13 before losing CCG and bowl)
2009 - #14 (unranked before winning 3 of last 4, including bowl. Lost CCG to tejas 12-13)

Recruiting is dog-eat-dog and opposing coaches use that data to bash opposing teams when recruiting a kid. "There is no momentum in that program", "They're not even Top 25", "Their coach is on the hot-seat, probably won't be there next year or year after", etc..
That is why Eichorst extended Riley's contract. It eliminates that hot seat portion of the dog-eat-dog that is recruiting. It's up to Riley to handle the rest this and next season.
2017 last 4 - Minnesota, Penn St, Iowa, bowl (equal peer).
2018 last 4 - illinois, Michigan St, Iowa, bowl (equal peer).

If NR or hovering #18 - #25 they need to go at least 3 out of 4 in those. If there is a loss it can't be by blowout. Nebraska is going to have to earn it's way back to being relevant if they want to close a recruiting season skrong.

247Sports is the most accurate recruiting service out there, Wiltfong doesn't take Crystal Balls lightly, he hits 90% of his predictions. Could this be one of the 10%? Obviously, but I'll take those odds.

As far as hierarchy of ratings IMO, this is the most accurate:

247Composite (what I go by)
247Sports
Rivals
Scout

ESPN

Obviously 247 purchasing Scout this past year throws a wrench in there as well.

I'm just being devil's advocate and a realist. People get their panties in a wad because I don't pimp kool-aid.
Here's the real deal....Oregon had 'new' coaches too. New head coach, new OC, new DC. Nebraska just had a new DC. If we continue the direction of the program that it's been the last 15 years, we'll be watching Nebraska/Minnesota on BTN in 2020/2021 while Iowa/Wisconsin battle it out on national tv for the Big 10 west CCG spot.
That is what the Big 10 offices visualized when making up those schedules. They took the last 15 years of rankings data and found Iowa with 5 Top 10 finishes and Wisconsin with 4. Nebraska, Minnesota and the rest of the Big 10 West have a combined ZERO.
The Big 10 offices are in the business of generating revenue via entertainment. Statistically Iowa/Wisconsin is most likely to generate more entertainment, more national viewers, than Nebraska/Iowa or Nebraska/Wisconsin.
That is real.

Which one is best at finding 'Diamonds in the Rough' among the 'Best of the Rest' average P5 or upper tier Mid-Major recruits?
