So after going to a play where the daughter of a friend of ours was in the lead, we grabbed a late dinner at a Friday's across from the UM campus. I immediately found myself surrounded by a bunch of pretentious over-entitled douchebag Miami students.

I'd be willing to bet they are. I bought them back in Aug. but club seats.
Actually truth be told, through my daughter's dance we actually befriended one of the "convicts". He played DE from '86-'89. He's actually a really cool guy and excellent family man.
Since meeting him I've told him how much harder it is to hate those teams. He knows and respects the mutual hatred of ND but he's by no means a dick about it.

I had a big long diatribe re-assessing the season but had to stop typing to deal with work stuff.
At the start of the season, my benchmark for retaining Kelly was making the playoffs. I know that's a tall order after a 4-8 season, but in year 8 the guy's just out of excuses. He was given all the chances in the world and then some given all the blunders along the way (Declan Sullivan, shitty academic performance, players cheating, alcohol and drug busts).
And I was way more patient with him than a lot of fans. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt longer than most, recognizing that for all his faults i.e. Gameday coaching, he had a huge hole to climb out of. Also there were just too many diminishing returns with the coaching carrousel that preceded him.
But he's been granted too much leeway and there are no more excuses. He didn't deliver the excellence that the fan base has been seeking for 25 years. He came up short again and once every 5 years just isn't good enough. Especially when shitting the bed on the biggest stage.
Truth is, he's been punching above his weight class since he got here. Time to get a MAC job and excel where defense doesn't matter and he can play X-box style of play calling.
He'll get another year, but he doesn't deserve it, and woe to this university if they give him another extension.
