Glad we get to see Lake, Olt, Grimm, Schlitter on the opening day roster. Schlitter back from TJS. Happy there seemed to be competition for some spots, you would think years past, Kottaras would have just been penciled in after the signing, Baker beat him out for handling the staff and Castillos growth.

Sure hope Olt and Lake start, at least we get a taste of what to expect.

Well, not a good way to start the season. 1-0 walk off loss in extras

Cubs could only mustard 6 hits, 4 of those were Emilio.

Castro 0-3
Rizzo 0-4
Olt 0-3

Absolutely no production from the middle of the line up

One bright spot, Samardzija with a strong outing

7 IP
0 ER
2 BB
3 K's

Strikeouts weren't there today, also gave up 5 hits, but all in all pitched very well. He kept the walks down which is a plus.

Again, like last year, we couldn't bring in runners in scoring position. Absolutely dreadful. Our pitching won't always be there and we need to start capitalizing when the opportunity arises.

Eerily similar to the Padres' story.

No doubt about it

Think we had a guy on 3rd, 1 out in the 8th and couldn't get him in.

Day 1 of a long season, and I'm already frustrated

Rizzo had three strikeouts, fans are bitching that he swung at the first pitch the fourth at bat and popped out to the third baseman. That first pitch was probably the best one he saw the first three at bats.

Pittsburg was equally pathetic with RISP, Liriano was dealing, the cubs didnt beat themselves with errors, just bonifacio with some base running gaffes. At least for now it seems there has been some emphasis on fielding.

This is just a very weak line up, unless Rizzo and Castro have good seasons.

But if Castro does what he did last season, this line up is awful.

Why wait a few months. Well, the Cubs were mathematically eliminated today...

BTW, I am a life long Cubbies fan, just so you know I am not being a jerk...

Yeah, it's just another throw away season.

Hoping to see Baez and Bryant later this season

Later? Might as well get em up as early as they can. Get em used to the bigs.

Well yeah, we're all hoping for that.

But that's just not going to happen, Theo and Jed are taking their sweet God damn time with these guys.

Another ugly loss.

Veras blows the save, shades of Carlos Marmol all over again.

Cubs rack up the hits, but just can't knock in any runners. Same ol' shit.
