19 year old CHL players could become AHL eligible if there's a lockout

Normally anyone drafted from the CHL can't play in the AHL until they are 20 or can join their AHL team once their CHL team is done for the year. If they don't make their NHL team, then they can only return to their CHL team. It looks like there could be an exception this season if there is a lockout.

My guess is these high 1st round picks are signed to 1-way contracts. Can the Panthers and the Islanders afford to pay Huberdeau and Strome NHL money to play for their farm teams? Also would this use up a year of their ELC?

both have $70k ahl salaries as per cap geek ... slide rule probably gets affected though ... ie do they burn a year on their entry level contract if they play in the ahl during the lockout?

If there is an extended lockout (and I hope there isn't a lockout at all), maybe some of these guys (and RNH) might be released to play for Team Canada at the WJHC tourney.
