Walker in.

Well, that is pretty close to what I expected from Harrison. Maybe thought he'd last a bit longer but the start seems pretty in line with what he's done in AAA this year.
65 pitches is towards the high end of what I expected. No more than 75. If he had a clean inning, I am sure he would have been allowed to finish it.

I was in Philly about a month ago. Nice stadium. I was talking with a couple of Phanatics seated near me. I asked what was up with Harper, as at that point, he only have four (4) home runs on the season. That used to be a good week for him. They both shrugged. As I looked down their lineup, their big pickups were all hitting less than .250, and Schwarber was under .190. And yet, they were still driving in runs. What a concept! It doesn't appear that Harper is hurt, or spent much time out of the lineup. Strange. He has since hit five (5) homers in the last month.
That team got off to a rough start offensively. They seem to be doing better recently, though.

Man, Slater has fallen off a cliff.

Last 7 Games: .000

Last 15 Games: .000

Last 30 Games: .121

April/May 1 = .370

June = .366

July = .159

August = .000 (NO hits this month at all!)
He is the poster child for this team's 2nd half offense. I haven't looked into Davis or Sabol's 2nd half numbers but they cannot be too far off.

This might be the gut punch loss that kills my lingering optimism

True. I just don’t like the guy. I saw some guys talking about the Giants starting to fade in the 2nd half. It sounded familiar.
He does rub some people the wrong way

I suspect that’s about the time his zen attitude grows tiresome and players check out.
For the Phil’s, it was over use of the pen. In fairness to him, the front office at that time didn’t really do him any favors. He had a level of Tony LaRussa arrogance to him like he invented the game. Maybe he learned from his Phillies experience and he doesn’t present in that way anymore.

Also…it’s pretty disgusting to me to eat ice cream by swirling it around your mouth and then spitting it out.
