I am a bit surprised to see all the Dodger relievers with ERAs in the 4s. Their bullpen may not be as bad as ours but it isn't nearly as good as I thought it was. I guess they can get away with that a bit with their starting rotation.
Their bullpen is way worse than ours. Our pen just won us an entire sweep vs the Dodgers. For sure the last 2 games.

FYWW!!

Estrada had a big play today too
Estrada passes the eye test on defense, but apparently the advanced metrics on him say he is a bad defensive 2B. But I have no understanding of advanced defensive metrics, so I can’t attack or defend their rating for him.

He's inconsistent. Makes too many errors but also great plays.

I understand our bullpen looked great this series but how does that mean ours is better than the Dodgers? The eye test, looking at each player's numbers, wouldn't suggest that.

Some of the numbers are misleading. Rogers is an outstanding reliever who has weird numbers due to one outing where he didn't even get hit that hard, lotta seeing eye ground balls.

I haven't looked closely but I don't see how one would think our pen is a problem. We are now on pace to win 91 games, and 4th in the NL. 4th is about the best I would hope for this year (1st wildcard)

Nope.

4th in the NL does not mean 1st WC. San Diego currently holds the first WC. If the season ended total, we would be the #5 seed.

We would face the Puds w/o HFA in the WC round.

Thanks. 1st wildcard is still what I think our ceiling is.

Good info. But there is a long way to go (103 games for us), AND...

...we have multiple potential upside factors.

1) Great momentum off this sweep. We were struggling at home, hopefully this reverses that.

2) We are WAY under the salary cap. We could easily afford a major pickup, perhaps an SP or high quality reliever.

3) By contrast, both SD and LA are well over the cap. That is not to say they wouldn't push it further should they decide to do so.

4) Belt just could get healthy and hot.

Apparently, if I leave the country the warriors and giants can’t lose. Staying here for a while

I'm relying on this, heavily...
