Nova is not helping his case to keep his job when Severino returns. Needed to pitch more like he did in Oakland than he pitched the last 2 starts

Severino came off the DL today and was sent to Scranton/Wilksboro

Assuming to work on some stuff. If he has a a few good starts, I would expect him back up within the next month and Nova back to the pen unless Nova has some quality starts in that time period

I don't see how any starter on this team can trust this manager.

Betts with three home runs, and a solid first start from Eduardo Rodriguez.

Betts is awesome. 3 Home Runs is great. Great to see the Red Sox doing great again.

It's been one of the most exciting starts in a while, contrary to what Ron Borges tries to tell us.

Yeah, the pitching isn't great. Anyone that expected it to be was going to be heavily disappointed. But they're currently 11th in MLB in WAR and own a team ERA+ of 109. They could certainly use another SP and perhaps another reliever, but it isn't costing them games. Not when the Red Sox have been the best offense in the league... and by a pretty wide margin. They're batting .294/.358/.489 (126 wRC+) as a team. For reference, the 2003 team batted .289/.360/.491 (120). The Pirates are 2nd in wRC+, and that's at 116.

I don't expect the offense to keep this up forever, but how could any Sox fans not enjoy watching this team score runs in bunches?

  • Ortiz is putting up some of his best stats (at the moment) in his final season
  • Pedroia's wrist is recovered and he's hitting very well again
  • Jackie Bradley's been one of the best hitters in the league (he probably won't finish with a BA above .300, but the power's probably real at this point)
  • Betts and Bradley have been among the most exciting young players, and they're only 23
  • Travis Shaw's played pretty well despite being a non-prospect (probably won't continue)

no matter how hard a try, i can't passed the fact that girardi is behind all that is wrong with this team.... and don't get me wrong, i know all the good and bad about every player on this team, and i have no problem going into full discussion bout them.. just can't get passed the days off, lack of preparation, no leadership, lack of maturity, all the PUSS injuries, ETC, i'll be back when he is gone!

Another clunker from Joe Kelly, and he's been optioned. I can't blame Buchholz too much for tonight, the Sox were pretty bad defensively tonight.

Hopefully that's the last we'll see of Joe Kelly as a starting pitcher. He sucks.

Clay pitched like Clay, but with Kelly optioned Clay probably goes back into the rotation.
