I think they need a goal scoring winger, and a 3C. My preference is that they bring offense, but if they don't I want them to be capable at 5 on 5 and a PK'er. This is my list. I would like two of them, a winger and a center.

1. Stastny
2. JvR
3. Riley Nash
4. Grabner
5. Perron
6. Neal

Hextall doesn't seem to want to go with a big term though, so I think that rules out Stastny and JvR.
I like your list, I guess I was expecting Hexy to make a little bigger of a splash for somebody, but on your list for some reason Nash grabs my attention.

Unfortunately I attribute that primarily to Lappy and coaching.

2017/18 - 29th
2016/17 - 21st
2015/16 - 20th
2014/15 - 27th

29th over the full 4 years he's been in charge. They were 9th in the league over the 4 years prior to him taking over. Couturier, Read, Giroux, and Simmonds were on those teams too.

The fact that Lappy is still employed is easily the most ridiculous thing about this offseason. Maybe even Hexy's entire tenure (yes, even worse that Weise)
Yea Lappy was an awesome player, tough as nails but he's losing that message somewhere.

I would have to think about this. I love Barrie as a blueliner though.
See this is why I thought we could have done a little more in our draft. A solid blue liner addition would have gone a long way right now. If your not gonna add a Tavares/Panarin type player then at least strengthen some other areas. We need more scoring options so injuries don't kill us or more shut down defense, but I don't see a different frame work shaping yet. Stastny/Panarin/Nash fill some weaknesses imo. but to what extent. Panarin is the only potential game changer out of those 3.

Hexy was drafting for the future and not the present so im hoping a trade is looming.

Im hoping Hexy still has a plan in either free agency or a trade for a player that can help us next season.

Very much agreed.

Ok Taveras has 5 teams on his list and we arent one of them . Is it possible to blow him away with an offer and steal him? That would make Patrick our third line center which would make us killer down the middle.

Bringing this list back to the head of the conversation because I was pondering it..

Tavares - 8 years, 10.7
Carlson - 8 years, 8.6 (re-signed, 8 years, 8 mil)
Kane - 4 years, 7.3 (re-signed, 7 years, 7 mil)

Larkin - 6 years, 6.3
Stastny - 3 years, 5.4
JvR - 3 years, 5.3
Maroon - 4 years, 5.3
Bozak - 3 years, 4.3
Neal - 1 year, 4.3
Reinhart - 2 years, 4.1
Grabner - 4 years 3.8
Grubauer 2 years, 3.5 (signed, 3 years, 3.3 mil)
Hutton - 2 years, 3.1
Cole - 3 years, 3.0
Komarov - 3 years, 2.8
Hickey - 2 years, 2.7
Saros - 2 years, 2.4
Riley Nash - 3 years, 2.7
de Haan - 1 year 1.6

So far, the estimates have been fairly close. Missed Kane's years by a good bit and they're talking about Tavares over 11M, but other than that pretty spot on.

Flyers mentioned under JvR. Based on Kane getting 7x7, I expect JvR will be up there too. I don't want to go more than 5 years for him though.

turns out the link isn't working. It's a TSN article on the top 12 free agents.

I wouldn't want him for more than 3 and if he proves worthy extend it.
