It is wide open for sure. Into the 3rd round of games tomorrow. Right now Germany/Brazil is a 1st round match in the knockout round. Will be interesting to see if that stays.

World Cup Group Stage Tiebreakers:

1. Goal difference in all group matches

2. Goals scored in all group matches

If two or more teams are still tied after using these initial tiebreakers, the next round of tiebreakers is used.

3. Greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned.

4. Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned.

5. Greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned.

6. Greater number of points obtained in the fair play conduct of the teams based on yellow and red cards received in all group matches as follows:

• Yellow card: minus one point
• Indirect red card as the result of a second yellow card: minus three points
• Direct red card: minus four points
• Yellow card and direct red card: minus five points
(Only one of the above deductions shall be applied to a player in a single match)

Having lived in England for 5 years and following them for a lot longer, the one thing that has impressed me most is how well they are playing as a team. In year's past (say the last 20) players seemed more concerned with their club than their country, and there was no chemistry ect, even when on paper, they were stacked.

Everyone seems to have checked their egos and are playing their roles and playing for that Three Lions shirt.

People will look at yesterday's game and say "it's only Panama", yes Panama sucks, but in past WCs, England constantly struggled against lesser teams, usually eking out a 1 goal win or often a draw against teams like that. I'm not saying they will win it, but if they keep playing like this, giving it their all and playing their best, they can be proud of themselves and their supporters can be proud as well.
