True. But Zach is going nowhere this year (and likely ever). If anything sitting out lessens the chances of an injury

I said the same thing about key parts of the OL for the Seahawks and guess what they're not there anymore.

Nah, no hurry. He doesn't need OTAs and he isn't going to skip anything mandatory. He is even at the facility every day. Non-story to me
The point is not to wait until the end of the season and possibly be faced with having both Martin and Lawrence looking free agency and only 1 franchise tag to use. He'l I would rather get both signed to deals now and not have to deal with it later

I see little chance that we tag Lawrence again. We just weren't ready to commit yet because he hadn't done it enough. Maybe if he starts out good and then has an injury we may still be unsure but he costs us more by doing it this way. Doesn't it go up 20% or something? I'm all for tagging Martin if it comes to that. Probably saves us a fortune.

Why not just get it over and done With? Then instead of tagging Martin at 14+M maybe it is only 11.5 to 12.5M saving us 1.5 to 2.5M

Martin is the best interior OL in the game. As Teddy KGB said on Rounders..."Pay the man his money"

Agreed. No way Dallas tags Lawrence again. I think if DLaw repeats last year's performance then it's a no brainer, you have to pay him - unless there are major concerns about his back going forward. It will be interesting to see how Dallas approaches the contract talks if Lawrence is merely average/decent in 2018.

Cowboys have a little depth at the position with Taco, (fingers crossed :hope:) Gregory and Tapper. The development of Taco, Gregory and Tapper this season will be worth watching in that it may go a ways to determining how the front office handles DLaw's contract negotiations.

Yeah, I don't quite get the hold up. If we don't see something done by July I'm going to start getting a little anxious. Sure Dallas can tag him if after 2018 if they can't reach an agreement, but I hope it doesn't get that far (and contentious).

Everyone here in Baltimore loves to talk about how Yanda is so great, "best Guard in football" they say. Yanda is awesome, but Martin is better. Yanda has never had near the impact on the Raven rushing attack that Martin has had on Dallas' rushing attack. From day 1 since Martin was inserted into the starting lineup the run game has been a completely different animal. Martin is without a doubt the best pulling guard in football, he rarely (almost never) commits penalties, and he is just plain excellent at every facet of his game.

I know i'm alone in this but I think we need to sign Zack and DLaw to new contracts now. based on what each should receive I would give Zack a 5 year $70M deal with 40M guaranteed starting this year with the 2018 salary at $8.00M saving $1.341M. and I would sign DLaw to a 5 year $85M contract with the 2018 salary at $14M saving $3.143M. with the $91464005 & those savings we would have $13648005 open cap with which we could sign both Kendrick and Reid

Lawrence: I'm a big Tank fan. i love guys that excel against both the run and the pass. But after 4 years and 23 sacks I would hate it if this team gave Lawrence that contract you suggested right now. After another good year I'm on board but don't see the contract going much higher even if he breaks out. The highest annual salary for a DE is $17.1M (him and Ansah). Only Vernon makes the $17M you propose on a long term deal. Sorry, but he hasn't earned that yet in my eyes.

Martin: I think he wants more. Just a hunch and Total guess on my part based on the fact he isn't yet signed. I also think he signs in the next 2 weeks and maybe this weekend.

The experts crack me up. We have the worst receivers, blah blah. To me dez was never the same player after he broke the foot. We added speed with Thompson and Austin. Gallup was a steal. Hurns will be good. I worry more about the coaches

Maybe the coaches can help T-Will. He still can't get out of bounds.
