I think they need to do it right. At this point, it doesn't make sense to kill off some of the bigger characters, but for the side characters, I see no reason not to kill them off.

Instead of having 3 or 4 red shirt wildlings running out there with them, maybe let Beric or Thormund go down. I understand they have an endgame for most characters and maybe Beric is supposed to be some kind of mentor for Jon? I dunno.

Hound has to kill Mountain
Tormund has to get Brienne

Beric has to fight and die fighting a White Walker?

It was likely all an act, but he was more cartoonish at the beginning.

There is a lot of stupid going on with the writing.

And I am sure it won't stop once we get ALL THE MAIN CHARACTERS in the same fucking room.

He may have input on what he thinks should happen, but I have a feeling the books will take a different route to get to the final outcome. Martin won't compromise his story by letting his characters show up when convenient or anyhting like that. The show has too many "oh you're here, how convenient!"

Plus Lady Stoneheart is a wildcard the show doesn't get to use.

Yep, been over this repeatedly. They've made LOTS of changes in interests of cutting material, and then adding in some scenes to make up for the holes that then come up (one book per season), but they've been clear from day 1, that they're getting to the same ending that George is.

Why am I supposed to not believe them?

I am not saying you shouldn't believe that they are going in the same direction, but bad writing to meet a deadline is still bad writing. Holes in the plot and stupid resolutions are not something to be overlooked. I don't blame GRRM for that. I blame the showrunners.

There is still one episode left to save it, but this season is by a large margin the worst season.

Bad writing to meet a deadline? They're doing LESS episodes, apparently not enough episodes suddenly, and it's supposedly because they're rushed?

See here's the thing you're missing. In the books, all the elements that the show had to cut out in order to do 1 season/book (their agreement with George), act as a buffer between scenes. There's no 24 style device, where we see the clock ticking down.

So when we see scenes nearly back to back, it's going to make it seem like events are happening too rapidly. I guess you can lay awake nights obsessing over that, or you can, do what most people do when watching every tv show in history, just kick in your SOD, and roll with it.

There's no characters that are doing things antithetical to their carefully crafted personalities. OR, they may SEEM to be in order to build some dramatic tension, but they actually aren't.

You've got people in this thread complaining about fucking CHAINS not being explained enough for crissakes.

you can keep hitting the "I believe" button all you want, man, but I say there are huge gaps in the physics of the show. There are bullshit ideas like Euron or Benjen coming out of no where to save the day. They are doing their best to close gaps in the story but in ridiculous ways. There seems to be a high level of convenience going on that I just don't subscribe to.

So where was Benjin before his perfect timing appearance? How did he know to show up? Was he hanging out watching the battle? Why not run on the NK and kill him instead if sacrificing himself to save Jon?

Possibly is the "worst", I think we're all just annoyed by the accelerated pace to close it out. I'm still enjoying it and cant wait until next week. They're trying to cram 4 seasons at old pace into 2 abbreviated seasons.

Again, GRRM is not only giving them exactly what will happen in the books, he's signing off on the scripts.
