If you thought that ESPN gave zero fucks about the NHL, they really don't give a shit now. 3 NHL guys among cuts so far.
Why is ESPN cutting out all the money making thingys

Is it possible that I know 50 people who work at ESPN to begin with?
I wonder when they'll actually adjust their ways?
I suspect ESPN thinks that laying off people is adjusting to the new climate.I wonder when they'll actually adjust their ways?
I'm not sure what is "liberal" about ESPN's TV contracts at all. It's a purely capitalistic move that worked splendidly when people actually bought cable.Funny to see a overly liberal douchehat questioning when ESPN will get away from being overly liberal douchehats.
It's just a band aid. It doesn't actually fix a problem, it just lowers their current expenditures.I suspect ESPN thinks that laying off people is adjusting to the new climate.

Plus ESPN continuing to up TV contract figures.....and...expensive, failed, ventures like the Longhorn Network

None of which has to do with their financial problems, you know -- the topic of this thread. And doing a bunch of gay shit like giving out their Arthur Ashe Courage Award to a dude for lopping off his dick, or hiring holes to cackle like hens about jersey colors on SportsCenter.
Oh nut jobs will turn anything political now.

No. This doesn't even have to do with ratings of their programs. You don't understand anything about this issue. You don't think their viewership is down because of shit like that? You're retarded.

Cable companies bundle ESPN in with basic cable packages, whether people want it or not. ESPN is the most expensive channel in that lineup in terms of guaranteed contracts. As people cut their cable subscription, ESPN is losing like $6/month per cable cutter.
No. ESPN is not losing money because ad revenues are down because of ratings dumb ass. ESPN is losing money because of losing their guaranteed money built into cable subscriptions. They're two entirely separate things. If ESPN had built their model entirely on ad revenues, this wouldn't be an issue. It's all a part of it, half-wit.
