Cowherd: just admit you're critical of Lebron because you're worried he's better than Jordan

Who was it then? lol

You need me here, my threads keep this bball site alive. It would be mad boring around here...this thread alone is 24 pages deep

I don't know. It's possible that there was a temporary glitch. It's happened before. In the future, if something like that happens, I'd suggest you PM me and ask instead of starting a bitch thread.

This site and these boards were great before you came along and will continue long after you're gone.

And trust me, I doubt anyone will even ask about you if you were to disappear. Your Wiggy lite and would be missed even less than him.

somebody has to beat out jordan...hopefully i am not doing what you did with magic and kareem, probably am, but it's fun for now

Maybe, but it won't be Lebron. First thing that has to happen is someone has to go at least 6-0 in the finals.

You kind of are doing what I did with Magic and Kareem, but it's early for you, so it's still fun.

And believe me, I'm no MJ fan. I was coaching high school basketball and trying to teach kids how to share the ball like the Showtime Lakers and all those little fuckers wanted to do was try to be the next MJ. lol

Seeing MJ as GOAT is kind of like the stages of grief: denial, anger, deal making, etc, and finally...acceptance. lol

the only thing that bugged the Hell outta me with Jordan was the travelling...

course it isn't nearly as egregious as LeClown's flopping...

To be fair, traveling hasn't been called in the NBA for decades. But I agree, some of MJ's were pretty egregious. Used to drive a friend of mine batshit crazy.

Got to the point where I couldn't watch any games involving the Bulls with him. He'd spend the whole game yelling "C'mon refs, that's a travel" or "He walked." lol

Im talking about last year. So no Durant.

McMillan was no slouch at D, and Kemp was an athletic freak.

Jeff Hornacek was an excellent 3 pt shooter and prob could match Klay on offense.

The Warriors would not have made it to the finals if not for Durant's choke job...

So many choke jobs lately.. So little room on my dvr

"We need to change the rules so Lebron can be the GOAT with a losing record in the finals. It's not fair that he can't win enough championships, so they shouldn't count."- Snowflake millenials, Cavs fans and Lebroniacs (which are all pretty much the same).

It hurts so bad here come the rainbows

The Warriors were so good. up 3-1 and couldn't even get 1 bucket in the last 4 minutes on the biggest stage

not one bucket

I'm sure no other playoff team in history ever went 4 minutes without scoring a bucket.

I get it.. No big deal. Game 7 with it all on the line. Pretty bad time for "one of the great teams of all time" to lay an egg. For 4 minutes

The Jazz and Sonics were both 64-18. Payton was DPOY and Malone was the MVP when Jordan faced them.

You think Curry would light up the Glove? You think Dray would stop the mailman?

Nobody is saying those were not good teams. Just about every team that makes that Finals is good enough to win a title. The 2016 Warriors were special though.

Do i think Curry would light up Gary Payton? No. But I am not naive enough to think Payton would lock him down either. Elite offense beats elite defense. The best comp I could find for Curry was AI. Between his rookie year and 2001, AI averaged 23.6 against Payton. He had some real clunkers in there his first 3 seasons, but then lit Glove up a few times too. Yes, Payton would hold Curry below his average, but he isn't shutting him out. Curry is not the only problem those Sonics would have to worry about either.

Would Dray shut down Malone? No. I imagine he would do about what Rodman did. Pester the hell out of him and make him work for every point. Great offense beats great defense. But, I definitely can't see Stockton and Hornacek shutting down the splash brothers. Just isn't happening.

64 wins is awesome, but let me remind you that the Warriors won 73. There are many teams throughout history who have won 64 or more. How many have won 73?

That's because, statistically speaking, the difference between all time greats is too close to call. That's why rings are the tiebreaker and why MJ is GOAT.

It's also why Lebron can't be GOAT or even ranked higher than Magic or Kareem (yet) when he has a losing record in the finals. He loses the tiebreaker.

Believe me. I tried for years arguing first Magic over MJ and then Kareem over MJ (and Kareem even has the same number of rings). It always comes down to MJ has more rings and/or never lost in the finals.

I do not really care to have this conversation with you either. But I do need to make one more point.

You are trying to take something that is clearly opinion and turn it into science. It just doesn't work like that. There is no Magic formula for ranking all time greats. If everyone agreed on the criteria than the debate would be no fun at all. There is a ton of information that needs to be considered and it extends far beyond basic stats, Finals record and ring count.

Elite defense owns all. Especially against elite jump shooting.

I have you on ignore but I had to check this gem of a response. I won't check again, so don't bother.

Say team A is elite offensively and average defensively
Team B is elite defensively and average offensively

I would bet on team B in a playoff series.

The Bulls were arguably the greatest defensive team of all time, but they were pretty darn good offensively also. In fact, they led the league in both offensive and defensive efficiency that season (shocker).

The Warriors are one of the best offensive teams of all time and have been number 2 in the NBA in defensive efficiency back to back seasons.

But go ahead and pretend that the Warriors are just a collection of jump shooters if you want.

The 96 Sonics gave up 102.1 points per 100 possessions. The Warriors allow 101.1. So, the Dubs defense is comparable if not better than the 96 Sonics. But thanks for trying. I will now go back to ignoring because you have 0 substance to add beyond the "90s are better" comments.

That is what some people don't realize, they were statistically one of the great offensive teams of all-time BUT they are great defensively too just like the Bulls. They don't play the same style offensively but they can lock you down with their defense.

Part of the problem with comparing the 90's to current day is the style of defense that is allowed. I think the Bulls would have the advantage in either era because they could defend the perimeter with players like MJ and Pippen who were bigger and stronger than guys like Steph and Klay, but just as quick or very close to it.

Playing under the 90's rules, the Bulls would just be too physical and would pretty well beat up everyone on the Warriors physically except for Draymond who'd have been ejected (and probably gotten his ass kicked) for getting frustrated and kicking Rodman in the nuts.

Under today's rules, I would still give the Bulls the edge defensively, but the Warriors would have a much better chance to beat them and the games would be much closer.

I agree. The Bulls definitely would have the edge against the Warriors. They are arguably the greatest team of all time, rivaled only by the top Showtime Lakers team ('87 I believe?). Can't put the Warriors in that conversation without a title.

Saying that the Sonics and Jazz were better is a bit much though. The 2016 Warriors were better than most NBA champs. Just not the 2016 Cavs. At least not in that particular series.

Yeah, athletically speaking, the Sonics would give the Warriors more trouble than the Jazz. They would be able to stay with the Warriors under either era's rules, but not like the Bulls. The Glove was just a menace defensively and Kemp was ridiculous in his prime.

I'd give the Sonics a slight edge under 90's rules and the Warriors a slight edge under today's.

The Jazz could stay with the Warriors under 90's rules, but would get destroyed under today's rules.
