Day of we were able to find quarter final tickets in the $40-$50 range. Lots of VT alumni in the DC area. I couldn't make the finals, so I didn't check prices.

Yeah I'm looking for QF tickets. I know semi finals and finals will be pretty expensive but even QF is pretty expensive at the moment.

LOL. Last years tournament at the VZ Center in DC was sold out (21k people) for all but one session starting with the quarter finals, and even that session sold almost 19k tickets.

God forbid there is even a discussion about the ACC not bending over backwards to protect UNC and Duke.

I've been to sold out venues where there were hundreds of empty seats. Then again, I've been to Greensboro and there are no empty seats. The ACC home office is in Greensboro. The middle of the region is in Greensboro. Greensboro is the natural place to have the tourney.

While I do agree that Greensboro is a great place to hold the tourney, it's really not fair to schools that aren't in VA, NC or SC to have the tourney in NC so often. Yes, the ACC home office is there, but look at Miami and BC. Even when the tourney is in Atlanta and NYC, that's still a 9 hr trip from Miami to ATL and a 4 hr trip from Boston to NYC.

Atlanta is a shitty sports town and shouldn't be considered.

There wasn't a single seat open in last years semis or the final at VZ between UNC and UVA.

I get Greensboro is "the middle" of the old ACC, but also happens to be the backyard of Duke and UNC, conveniently enough. DC is a much better location, in a better venue, in a city that is much more exciting and easier to get to for traveling fans. And considering BC, Miami, and Cuse, it might be the most centrally located venue for the league.

I may just have to settle for shitty seats (even though there is not one bad seat in Barclays) for the day or night session for one of the quarter finals

Interesting. I have found Atlanta to be a very fun sports town. Been there for NFL games, Peach/Chick-Fila bowls, basketball games and Supercross races.

You echo my sentiments about GSO for Duke and UNC. It's not fair for the other fan bases to have to go to their backyard so often.

A perfect rotation would be Atlanta, Charlotte, DC and NYC, but who knows what is going to happen with the ACC being stupid about NC's HB2 bill.

Replace Charlotte with Greensboro.

Also, I don't have a dog in this race, but I've always felt like the atmosphere was better when the tournament was held in Greensboro. It just feels like that's where it should be held. Similar to that of having the B1G tournament in Chicago or Indy. It'll be interested to see the turnout of the B1G tournament with it being held in DC this year.

One more thing, the ACC tournament is going to be incredible this year. Even Tuesday's games will have significant meaning.

Yep. It's exactly why I'm trying to go for the quarter finals. Those games should be something else.

If seeds stay true to form you'll see the following:

#1 UNC vs. #8 Virginia Tech
#4 Louisville vs. #5 Duke
#3 Virginia vs. #6 Notre Dame
#2 Florida State vs. #7 Syracuse

That's insane bball right there.

You also need to remember that the Greensboro Coliseum seats 23,5000 people. Verizon Center only seats 18,506. MSG sits 19,812. Barclays sits 17,732. Charlotte sits 20200. That is quite the difference.

I also don't think the people of Greensboro should be punished due to the explosion of the Big East. Conference realignment shouldn't be their problem or their fault. Many people behind the scenes, have flat out said that the people of Greensboro do the absolute BEST job when it comes to preparing for the ACC Tournament.

Once this HB2 drama goes away, I think a rotation between Atlanta (or NYC), Greensboro, Charlotte and DC makes all of the sense in the world.

That is the hockey capacity. For basketball it holds over 20k

I'm talking more about the town in general. The city doesn't get amped up for games and hosting events like other towns, and you don't get the locals to come out, get excited, etc.

I've been to a few Chick-Fil-A kickoffs and Peach Bowls, and those are great events, but they're selling out bc the fans of the teams can carry a single game like that. A multi-day basketball tourney may rely on some fans like bksballer who doesn't have a dog in the fight to be into it.

I would love to blame Wikipedia for that mistake, but I cannot. I need to learn how to read.

I'd like to be thrilled with the win tonight but I'm only half celebrating. That knee injury to Clarke (our best player imo) looked nasty. Hopefully the MRI comes back clean. Otherwise, it could be a painful finish down the stretch. It'd suck to come this close the tourny only for it to be derailed due to an injury
Sorry bro
