gunter locked down obj? I saw obj dropping alot of wide open passes. He might have been on someone else idk. As for Hopkins he was shut down by shitty ass osweiler like usual.

I am talking about the first match up vs OBJ when Gunter covering OBJ for he caught 0 passes but 4 or 5 vs whoever else was lined up against him. I can't really count Gunter as locking down OBJ in the second one because OBJ was terrible with the drops.

Yes Asswiper is a terrible QB no doubt about that. Still Hopkins can turn short completion into TD's and Gunter only allowed him to have 3 catches on 8 targets and no TD's.

Matty Ice to Julio is as good as they get though and in that game vs Gunter he caught 3 passes on 5 targets for 25 yards.

Gunter went from a nobody undrafted free agent to a damn good corner in just one season. He was the biggest surprise on the team this year. He will have his hands full with Dez though. I assume Troy will talk about the drop or non drop a billion times on Sunday.

This was discussed much earlier in this thread. Not only was Gunter not playing good we had the #5 and #6 corners Brice and Goodson playing as well. In Sundays game Brice and Goodson the #5 and #6 corners will not be playing with Rollins being back and Gunter has improved significantly over the last 2 years especially the second half of the season and has been playing #1 corner quality. So the corner position will be much better than back in week 5.

In looking how the Packers did against 3 of the top 5 receivers this year they did fairly well holding them to less than their average per game numbers.

Julio Jones ranked #1 in the NFL in yards per game at 100.6 yards a game was held to 3 catches for 29 yards and no TDs

Hilton ranked #3 in yards per game at 90.5 yards per game was held to 6 catches for 82 yards and no TDs

Beckham ranked #5 in yards per game at 85.4 yards per game. The first game early in the season he was held to 5 catches for 56 yards and did score 1 TD in the loss. The second game last week he was held to 4 catches for 28 yards and no TDS so a bit of an improvement.

Dez Bryant is ranked 35th in the NFL at 61.2 yards per game so not near the quality of the top 5. Looking at this info it does not look like bringing Dez Bryant into this game isthat big of a difference as the Pack defense has worked agianst much better and held them under their averages.

When Gunter was covering Hopkins he received the highest rating for GB vs the Texans that week with a 92.0. Here's what they said about him for the game.

This was a good game for the cornerbacks (outside of a touchdown allowed at the end), as they forced a fumble and broke up five passes whenever Osweiler came close to testing them. Gunter has had something of an up and down year, but he was very much up in this one, breaking up both targets that came his way and not allowing a catch all game.

A three game sample size against three elite receivers means having Dez won't be a big difference? Really?

What about Week 2 against Detroit when Marvin Williams had 205 yards and 2 TDs?

Pierre Garcon and Crowder both had over 100 receiving yards when they played at Washington.

What about Cam Meredith and Deonte Thompson having over 100 yards receiving in Chicago?

What about Thielien having over 200 yards receiving and 2 TDs a few weeks ago?

How about all the other games where their secondary got torched? Bringing Dez back won't be a big difference based on that small of a sample of facing good WRs? When you play the Falcons, Julio is the #1 priority. When you play the Colts, Hilton is the #1 priority. When you play the Giants, Beckham is the #1 priority. When you face Dallas, Zeke is the #1 priority. Very big difference. Load up the box to stop the run and let's see how well you do against Dez in single coverage. Better hope he continues to drop passes in crucial moments.

All of those receivers are better than Adam Thielen but Thielen had over 200 yards against the Packers.

The big difference I expect is not having 4 turnovers. One was Rodgers inside the 5 and Jordy had a fumble inside the 30. The current packer offense is 20 of 28 in the redzone in making TDs. All we hear is how the Cowboys dominated the Packers with Elliot rushing for like 150. When hearing that you would think they also dominated the TOP which was not the case. If the Pack had no turnovers in that game it could have easily gone the other way. From looking at the last game in my opinion that is the reason the Cowboys won.

So if by chance the Pack has no turnovers they will have a better chance of keeping Elliot off the field. Boths teams offenses are very similar with the cowboys averaging 376 yards a game and 26.3 points per game with a TOP of 31:55 where the Packers average 368 yards per game and 27 points per game with a TOP of 31:14. All this talk of limiting the time Rodgers has the ball is not shown in the games previous played by the Cowboys. The Packers have the same ability to limit how much Elliot can carry the ball as the TOP is like 40 seconds different. Some of the differences I see though is that we wont have Brice and Goodson the #4 and #5 corners starting at CB this time and will have the top 3CBs playing with Rollins, Randel, and Gunter. Jared Cook who didnt play last time also makes a hug difference as the coverage needed to cover him opened up the middle for many of the big plays against the Giants last week

They were up in the Bears game 27-10 with 13 minutes to go and went into soft coverage/zone as we sometimes do when we're destroying teams in the 4th. They play not to lose and give up wide open passes because they play 10 yards off the WR's when up by a big lead. We did this vs the Seachickens in the 2015 NFC CG and we were beaten. This is why I called for Dom to be fired since that game.

GB's pass defense is #22 and Dal's is #18 despite all the injuries and late game zone/soft coverage Dal's pass defense is ranked only 4 spots higher. This is from your favorite website in football outsiders.

Sure Dez could have a good game and I would give him credit for it if he does. As of right now we have the best health we've had all season, the secondary is playing at it's best with Randall coming off his best Pro Football Focus Score of the Year, Hyde has been consistently great in the slot the last 5 weeks and Gunter has been lining up vs elite WR's and has done an excellent job.
