While player safety is important. A defensive player has just as much right to the ball. That play was far from a vicious hit on a defenseless player. If anything it was circumstantial. I remember the call I didn't like it either. Their has been several plays involving much more dangerous hits that were targeting by definition that have not been called. The rule needs to be revamped. There has been far too many ejections on what is basically been treated as a judgement call. Perhaps they need to treat it like a personal foul .That results in a 15 yard penalty and an ejection for a second offense. Unless it is absolutely blatant with intent to injure. On that play the Penn State player was playing the ball as he has a right to. If that was called against a USC player I would be pissed. If it was against a wolverine I would expect their fan base to be pissed. The targeting rule needs a lot of work.There are far too many flaws and inconsistencies that have been very costly to quite a few team imo.

Look up the targeting call that ejected a key player in the Michigan vs MSU game last year. It was just as bad if not worse. I'm not denying it was a bad call but if another bad call goes your way, don't tell other people not to bring it up.

To be fair there is a major difference in a blown PI call. Which involves field position. And a judgement call that removes a player from the game. There is a thread that goes into detail. Like I said if that was against SC I would complain.

To be fair sometimes teams get up for games against teams like the Badgers. And look past teams like Penn State.Lets not forget blocked punts and FG attempts are a little bit of an anomaly.And it looked like the weather was bad again.Its been like Ohio state has had a rain cloud following them.And that non PI call was close he did grab the OSU WR's arm. Im not excusing the loss or the win. But everything isn't always black and white. Rather than knock OSU.I give credit to Penn State.They may be ranked after the Ole Miss loss yesterday

I do agree with teams getting up for some but not others. The one thing that usually puts an end to that is losing or almost losing a game. OSU just had a nail biter last week, so not sure how the coaching staff would allow them to look past a team on the road, playing at night. I don't buy that.

The weather cloud following OSU is definitely something that is true. But in the end, both teams are playing in those conditions and in the B1G you can play in 70 degrees on week and 20 with snow the next. That is part of playing in the B1G. You will deal with the elements.

Michigan lost on a fumbled snap. No amount of coaching can prepare a player for real game time pressure situations. The punter simply dropped the snap. I can't say if the staff did or didn't go over worst case scenario situations. If they didn't. Then yes, I place some blame on the coaching staff.

And I give props to PSU, but as someone who has got to watch them multiple times, including against UM -- the game shouldn't have even been remotely close. And I'm not sure what 'rivalries' has to do with this? I'm not putting down OSU -- I'm saying they should have won by 3+ tds. If I were a UM slappy, I would be laughing at OSU and being a dick. I'm having a normal conversation asking what went wrong.

I agree to a certain extent. I think you can catch a team looking past another one if they've been blowing everyone out and have a big game in the week coming up. OSU just had the close game, which I'd think would wake them up and they play NW at home this week coming up.

I can agree it seems like OSU has ben playing with fire almost all season. But I don't want to take anything away from Penn State either. That could have very easily folded when thy are down.. But Penn State never gave upAnd fought their way to a very impressive victory.That was a huge win for Penn State as a program

Without question. Night road games are the toughest to play for any team. Everyone is hyped up, they fans have been tailgating all day. It usually goes hand in hand with white outs, black outs or whatever the school thinks up for the crowd.

That hasn't been the case though -- OSU has rolled thru the first 5 games of the season. It is the last two weeks where it has changed it seems.

No one is saying it counts more or less to win a night game. Any road win is a good win. For as long as I can remember -- they've said night road games are more difficult, as the home team is more amp'd, the crowd is louder (i.e. more drunk from tailgating all day), etc.

Here is a quote from a player regarding White Outs at PSU:

"The noise was actually vibrating through the facemask," Connor recalled earlier this week. "My helmet was shaking. When you play at Penn State, it's always loud -- but any of those White Out games, especially the night ones, it was a different level."

It is the same everywhere. It is not just Penn State. You still have to have some talent to win the game. UM played at night against Rutgers and lost by close to 100.
