A team ambassador, he told ESPN radio, that while Jordan "is probably the greatest scorer," James "may be the greatest player to ever play the game."

Those that know, know...

I did not actually read all the quotes you posted but LOL at you, did you read your own quotes? Pippen basically said that LBJ is well on the path to being considered better than MJ.

1) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 6 rings, 6 MVP's and impossible to keep from scoring.
2) Michael Jordan - 6 rings, 5 MVP's and the greatest scoring/defending slasher ever.
3) Bill Russell - 11 rings, 5 MVP's and the greatest defender/winner/leader ever.
4) Larry Bird - 3 rings, 3 MVP's and the greatest all-around forward to ever play.
5) Magic Johnson - 5 rings, 3 MVP's and the most versatile player ever.
6) Wilt Chamberlain - 2 rings, 4 MVP's and most dominant record-holder.
7) Lebron James - 2 rings, 4 MVP's and in his prime with no end in sight.
8) Oscar Robertson - 1 ring and most complete basketball player ever.
9) Shaquille O'Neal - 4 rings, 1 MVP and most unstoppable force ever in the paint.
10) Tim Duncan - 4 rings, 2 MVP's and most consistent big man ever.

I agree with most of that except a few things.

MJ was not the greatest wing defender ever, Pippen was easily better than MJ at that.
Magic was the most versatile player ever on offense, defensively it is generally stated he was not elite.
LBJ takes the most complete and most versatile player titles from Big O and Magic as he is Big version 3.0.

@the knocks on Kareem.
You can not always be on the best team, so many great players do not win a lot of rings or do well because they get drafted high by shitty teams. The competence of their GMs is not their fault yet we seem to blame the player for it, if you are LBJ then we blame you for playing GM and doing what it takes to win. LOL hypocrites, but that is why they are fans.

Also his best years were premerger and he was still dominant as ever post merger, that should be a positive, not held against him.

Missing the playoffs is not entirely the players fault.

1 last thing nobody talks about is that LBJ was his own worst enemy. He was so good he took the shittiest of teams into the playoffs year after year. If he would have just sucked more he would have had a few more higher picks in the draft and the help would have been added. As it was the GM was supposed to bring in FAs but with being forced to play in Cleveland as a rookie and having 0 assets outside of LBJ to trade they never were able to land a player. Cleveland being an epic fail of a city did not help the FA acquisitions. Even Detroit still gets players to come there.

But as always all of that is LBJs fault.

Nah, by all accounts Oscar Robertson had the total package - including on defense. I think the title of most complete player ever will belong to Big O until the next person comes along and averages a tripledip. I mean, you can't go wrong either way. I have already ranked LBJ ahead of him, making Lebron the first player to break into my sacred 7. Word.

MVPs and Finals MVPs are not both considered MVPs under a blanket definition, also by your alternative definition Magic would have 6, not 5.

I use total MVPS. Being named MVP on the biggest stage holds a lot of weight in my book.

And yes, Magic has 6. I failed to recall 1982 FMVP.

In my opinion, six out of the top 10 all-time are Lakers. Add Jerry West to these obvious five plus MJ, Bird, Oscar Robertson and Dr. J

Swap Wilt with Magic and Duncan with Lebron and i'm with you!

You guys are nuts putting LeBron so low. Totally crazy. Impossible to make a legitimate case keeping him out of the top 6-7 now. Personally, I think he is in the tier with Magic and Kareem right after Jordan. Wilt is overrated.

And you're nuts for saying he's in the top 5 before he's finished his career, especially as he has a losing record in the finals as the lead player.

He's top 10 but nowhere near the top 5.

No, I am not crazy.

He has been the best player in the league for about 8 years now. The only other player who can say that is Jordan. i am not getting into the Finals record convo again, but that is not a legit reason to keep him so low. If he retired today, his accomplishments would place him top 5.

And his talent is too overwhelming to not be in the top 5, together with his accomplishments.

I can tell you didn't read it. Right above your statement was the quote that said "team embassador". Pippen did not.
