Fantasy football. Simple question, do you think it generally enhances or detracts from your football watching experience?

For me it detracts but I can't quit playing the money league I've been in for 10 plus years. To far ahead and my college buddies would be pissed. It's kinda like squares in the 70's. Catch myself pulling for some strange shit instead of enjoying the games

I like it, I think it gets some fans off of their own teams too a bit among my friends.

Me personally, I don't think it's changed my viewing, watch every game on NFL replay the past couple years now, at times if there's a guy on my fantasy team or the team I am going against I kinda pull for or against them a little, but doesn't really affect my fun of watching the game.

I lose the passion for my team and start rooting for players instead. I've always won something in the 3 years I played it, but it was too time consuming... I prefer to just be a fan.

Outside of checking the league scoreboard every now and then, I don't even think about it while watching football.

I hasn't changed my viewing or rooting interest. I'm 100% Cowboys first if a Dallas win hurts my FF team I'm hoping my FF takes the loss.

Doesn't change who I root for. Keeps me better informed on random players around the league. Once my team is playing I only think of the game I'm watching.

It annoys me, when I turn on the NFL channel and hear them talking about players and their stats according to this make believe garbage....There is a reason it's called fantasy, "it ain't real" and it just helps create more avenues for gambling addicts to get worse and others to become one....
If you've ever seen the effects on a family that habit has, you wouldn't support it either...
It's just as damaging as drugs or alcohol, for real !!

Better. It gives most people an opportunity to learn more about what is going on around the league outside of their favorite team. If you like staying in a tiny bubble of interest that's fine because nobody is going to force you to play fantasy football.

Being a heterosexual, fantasy football is of no concern to me at all.

I don't even think about my 'fandom' when deciding not to play FF. I think about the huge time-sink it would be, and is the reason I don't play MMO's either.

I'm addictive enough already.

Exactly right. If you don't play FF you tend to be locked in to your team and division oppentents. FF introduces players from the entire league. Why else would a Cowboy fan ( just as a random example) be familiar with the Dolphins roster? FF forces you to get familiar with rosters across the board.

Not for a fan of football....I've never played it, never will, as someone already mentioned the time it requires to be wasted on it unless you are betting which leads to bad things IMO...
I'm no Mayock but I try to keep up with as many teams as possible just because I love the game and more importantly, I need ammo for when the banter starts....:dhd:

First couple years, I went out of my way to sit players that were playing the Bears that week. I don't do that now, but I would rather have a Bears win than FF win. (No money leagues, of course.)

Time wasted? Way less then posting here on the general board on worthless pissing contests. However each his own.
