Yes Goodell has that power. The suspension was levied after Goodell looked at the proof. The first judge slammed the proof as being flawed, but this appeals court judge just slammed the first judge's poor ruling. Now its a clusterfuck of clusterfuckery.

My understanding was that the only thing Berman was supposed to rule on, was whether or not Goodell had the power to suspend Brady, and nothing about evidence

He took it upon himself to rule on the actual proof in the case, which was not his job

And why Berman even considered the evidence is beyond me. It pretty much came down to this: does the commissioner have the authority under the CBA to rule on suspensions? If he does, Brady stays suspended. If he doesn't, suspension gets overturned.

You're probably right but the thing is you can never be sure. Maybe a slightly deflated ball stopped a Pat's fumble that would have happened with a fully inflated ball and that in turn could have changed the entire momentum of the game if it occurred early enough. Butterfly effect and all that. That's the thing when people assume it wouldn't have mattered. We just don't know.
