This doesn't really surprise me that much though. Langer's the master of ball flight. Great to see a complete golfer at his age contending in a huge tournament at his age.

He's a high baller and today isn't the day to be a high baller. Don't get me wrong, he's just a freak but he needs to get a more well rounded game. And these guys are being faced with tough decisions. There's the club that they just about always swing and the the club that the conditions dictate they swing and that's making it tough on a lot of guys. Thing with Langer is that he doesn't really need to deviate that much because he doesn't have the distance of these guys.

This has probably been one of those most unwatcheable Masters events I can remember. The wind conditions obviously doesn't help, but I hate seeing people choke let alone an entire field of players.

I played Sat. and it was worse than Fri actually...the gust were the biggest problem because they were much stronger than the 8 to 10 sustained wind...18 to 22 gusts we were getting, so I assume it was similar over there.

Rory does hit a high ball as does Day and the scores indicated it effected everybody just about...maybe 5 guys shot under par and 1 in the 60s.

Rory has been off for a while...imo the whole weight training regime that he and Chamblee have been kind of sparring about has some merit. Looks totally buffed, and his game is based more on power much like Tiger...he's not always going to have that advantage.

To answer the question on this tourney...in a word...driver. It's big wide course, but when you're out of position on pinestraw...it's tough to make par.

Today is calm...chilly start, two layer day for me, but real nice...almost no wind (5) predicted to speak of...the greens are already dried out...curious to see how they're holding...I assume we'll see the typical Sunday flags so I think we'll see a little more back 9 fireworks today....13 & 15 were not automatic birdies yesterday.

I just want to see a group of players all still in it when the back 9 starts.

....and an American champ!

Spieth let a lot of players back in this tournament in those final two holes. The pairing with someone like Smylie Kaufman should make it easier, but if he doesn't that driver problem solved, he probably won't go back-to-back.

I think Rory's 'problems' yesterday are somewhat overblown. Yes, he's not a particularly good player when the winds are howling, but the reality is that holes 10 through 12 have historically given him problems. Had he just ran through that in par....

I'm pulling for Bernhard Langer now.....I doubt it will happen because the big reason he's been in this tournament is the weather limiting the entire field. Calmer conditions will allow the majority of the players to go for par 5's in two. Second on my want list would be Lee Westwood. He's been too good for too long to not have a Major, but T3 has been on his resume far too much.

Well that's probably going to take Langer out of the equation. He's the guy that benefited the most from the conditions. Too bad. He's one of the best senior tour players ever. Some people don't take that tour too seriously but it's great to see the older guys going out there and playing great golf. The way he was playing 2 years ago I don't think he would have had any problem being a regular in the PGA or PGA Europe.

That would be weird if Langer got a penalty for an illegal putting stroke. Kind of a stupid rule. Either allow them to use the club or not. I liked the idea of forcing them to make the putter the shortest club in the bag.

I think a -4 has been posted in the clubhouse but not a ton of red numbers yet.

I think it's still Spieth's tournament in the end...Kaufman shot a super round yesterday...look for him to be even par at best, I think...74...the driver did hurt Spieth yesterday, but 2 pitch shots were fairly straight forward and he missed the mark by a lot to get them close...that part I think he fixes for sure.

Langer...hats off...he definitely was helped the most by the conditions. He probably won't go away, but Spieth will have to comeback to him I think...if he posts 71 I think he goes btb.

Week in week out on the PGAT, he would struggle to keep his card imo, but make some money.

SR Tour...I've always appreciated the quality of play, and like watching the not so textbook swings play great golf...but its setup like an exhibition ATM tour with no cut, so it's hard for me to view in the same light as the tours with a cut.

I was at Augusta for the first practice round on Monday. We got there at 9:00 A.M. and walked the course. Then we went to the practice tee for a few hours. We finally left at 6:00 P.M. after buying a few souvenirs for friends and family.

There really is no difference between using a long or short putter provided you don't anchor it to your body. I personally prefer the short putter.

I spoke too soon - let's all pray Patrick Reed gets cut and we don't have to see the asshole all weekend. Can't believe I forgot him.
What's your beef with him?

I don't think Rory can keep up with Spieth in the long-term. His mental focus on Sundays is right there with Jack and Tiger.
