Fellas (I guess it's official now that we've lost Midnight)...this is where we will gather thoughts about positions we're interested for the various picks...I'm willing to take any and all input whether it be players, trades, etc, but there can be only one GM I guess so the final say will be on me.

As far as the pool of players we really like for each round we might be better off DMing those to me.

To start us off.

1.25...With FA all but over and the key people re-signed. I think it's safe to say that whomever we pick at 25 is probably not going to be a starter this season. IMO, our most pressing needs are a young S, CB, DT....depth at DE, OLB and ILB also has to be addressed.

CB…if you were not aware, the Steelers have asked Cortez Allen to reduce his ’16 salary…if he agrees, based on the Steelers MO, there is a very good chance he will stick on the 53 if deemed healthy enough to play…if he’s not really healthy, it would make sense for him to not take a reduction and get released instead. In either case June 1 is probably when the rubber will meet the road with Cortez.

That aside, the best CB on the team is 31 and if we’re being totally honest, Gay probably ranks in the bottom 3rd of CB1s league wide.

Cockrell…right now he’s the odds on favorite to be the other outside CB…3rd yr player but ’15 was his 1st season with substantial snaps…he showed some promise, needs to improve to cement his starting job.

Golson…it looks as if they are handing him the slot job, 2nd yr player coming off a IR rookie season due to a shoulder. Grant...is now being looked at as a potential SS or FS and will get a shot to make the team.

Frey, Shabazz...at this point these guys are trying to make the team.

S...Mike Mitchell and Robert Golden are the favorites to start. Shamarko Thomas is on the last yr of his rookie deal, probably a 1 contract Steeler...the other names are just bodies.

DT...McCullers is the only legit NT on the team now that McLendon has moved on to the Jets. Granted, the DEF is in nickel about 70% of the time. A NT taken at 25 would need to be more versatile.

I have started a pool for 1.25...for those interested, I can DM you the pool I have and we can add/subtract from the pool.

Everything looks good ATL! :suds:

I'd add a PR/KR specialist to that mix of potential needs, but not exactly necessary. They've got talented kids at both WR & RB that could fit the role if given the practice. I don't blame Wheaton for his blunders. Those were stressful situations to be thrown into. More practice & prep can help. Return specialist would likely be a RB. Just an assumption of mine based off the current WR depth & the FO's comments on Eli Rogers. Could be drafted to fill the return role & battle Toussaint for RB3.

RB Depth:

D-Williams: No explanation necessary. Locked in as RB2.

Fitzgerald Toussaint: Smaller framed, but good runner. Good burst, vision, down-hill player. Blue collar attitude. Coaches love this kid. Will enter camp as the favorite for RB3.

Daryl Richardson: Played for the Rams & Texans. Semi-experienced. Good burst & vision. Not a powerful back by any means, but good zone runner. Scat-back type.

Rajion Neal: Former UDFA out of Tennessee. Had a promising preseason with GB before getting injured. Has been bouncing around PS's ever since (GB, MIA, OAK, PIT). Hybrid type player (has played at both RB & WR). Small but sturdy frame. Same type of player as Richardson but slightly bigger.

Abou Toure: Don't know much about this kid. Big frame (6'2" 235).

Roll call for those interested in participating in this mock draft. If you want to participate, please keep prospect names off this thread so we can avoid poaching (yes it has happened in previous years). PM names if necessary to ATL.

You can find the full mock discussion in the mock forum. Or here: Nos' 3rd Annual NFL Mock Draft : CHAT
You can view the draft picks as they come in here (DO NOT POST ON THIS THREAD!!!): Nos' 3rd Annual NFL Mock Draft : PICKS

@ATL96Steeler is the GM for the Steelers so he will do the picking unless otherwise asked by him.

@SteelersPride @Psych-Ward @Ojb81 @Gooch1034 @Superbelt @Ewa PGH Fan @MISKO @SteelerKing @element1286 @Bridgeburner @evolver115 @Cali Steel @NorthCoastSteelersFan @DoobeeDoobeeDoo

@old1r1sh ... Even though you are GM'ing another team in this mock, feel free to still discuss with us about PIT's picks. We'll try not to convince you to collude with us for better prospects lol :heh:

Good point on the PR/KR guy...this new 25 yd on the touchback will further reduce the KR but need somebody better than Wheaton on PR, AB should no longer be on PR...any names you come across that we can look at maybe 123, or the 6th rd comp pick?

Definitely don't need to be reminiscent of the '14 3rd rounder situation. We don't need someone that badly. 4th is a good ceiling for the discussion. Luckily the Steelers have done a good job in FA so that they aren't really drafting for need, so BPA is always in play. But realistically, the needs for S, CB & D-Line outweigh a return specialist.

I'm hoping we can stash the second option DT until 89, but I can see somebody grabbing him before then...2nd round is shaping up to get the best S prospect.

Wentz, Goff, Ramsey, Tunsil & Jack off the board... Impressive move by Hammer to trade back & still grab Tunsil. He'll be able to pick up secondary help with his additional pick in the next round.

There are about 10 DT's ranked above him according to most draft boards so there's a legit chance that he will be there @89.

If a certain safety is there in Rd 2 then I'd probably go for him over a DT without lookin back!

I'm open to anything in round one besides o line, or TE.

Think we're gonna have to see how things shake our

Doubt there is any real chance they would bite on either of those positions in Rd 1. And I know ATL wouldn't either. D-Line or CB are the better options.

Right, I feel there is CB depth. Depends whose there. The 5th-7th best CB may not be worth a round one pick imho

Anything over the top 5 is a reach IMO.
