3rd Round Pick

3.89...Javon Hargrave, DT, SC St.

Javon Hargrave | South Carolina State, DT : 2016 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile

6-1...309...notable info...small school, but he stood out...Two time - MEAC DEF POTY, 13.5 sacks this season...6 sacks in one game from the NT spot in spite of dbl team efforts got him noticed...his combine numbers have come back really strong...moves really well for a big man...40 in under 5 best was 4.8, and 10 yd split 1.69...he's not the typical 1st dwn run stuffing NT.

Performed well in the East West Shrine game against top tier competition...I think he will step in and be a factor as a rookie...hopefully this pick comes to fruition in a couple of weeks.

ATL is killin this mock! Excellent value in all 3 rounds so far. WJ3, Cash, Hargrave... Defense is instantly upgraded. WJ3 would compete to play from day 1, Cash & Hargrave would make excellent depth/rotation guys in their rookie season and would likely become starters in year 2.

Thanks...so far I think we've done as well as Colbert could hope for I think....our next pick is kinda of critical because we don't have a 5th...I goofed and didn't see a 3rd rd trade request that would've landing a 5th rd pick, but I was running in off the golf course Sat. and made the pick before I noticed it.

JAX is at the top, but they're killing the draft too.

Definitely critical. But I have faith in our targets list! Shouldn't need to scramble at the last second. These are the rounds that you start to see a lot more reaching & random picks.

4/4 on our #1 targets each round! That's what I call successful drafting!

Steelers 4th round pick in the SportsHoopla Mock.

4.125 Jordan Jenkins, OLB, GA

Jordan Jenkins | Georgia, OLB : 2016 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile

Our fourth round board had Jenkins as the highest rated player.

We all know Harrison has to call it a career after this season. We also know Jarvis Jones is in the last yr of his rookie deal and likely heading towards FA if the Steelers don't work out a long term market rate contract.

Leonard Floyd is the athletic stud in terms of the measurables, but the leader of that DEF and the one who wore the "C" on his jersey was Jordan Jenkins...basically he's a bigger, faster, stronger version of Jarvis Jones...very solid football player....he pushed Jones as a freshmen, I would expect him to push him as a rookie.

The Dawgs went thru 3 DCs during his tenure so his role has changed several times. I'm not expecting a stud at this level, but a solid 5-6 sack player. Happy to get him in the 4th round.

It took a while, but we finally got our 6th round pick in.

6.45.224 : Pittsburgh Steelers Selected: Elandon Roberts - ILB - Houston

PRO DAY RESULTS

40-yard dash: 4.6 seconds
Vertical: 36 inches
Broad jump: 10 feet
Short shuttle: 4.26 seconds
3-cone: 7.23 seconds
Bench: 25 reps of 225 pounds

Steeler Nation...Face takes the credit here...he led the way on this pick and did the research...I think he would have an excellent chance to make the squad.

When you read thru his scouted strengths and weaknesses...you come away thinking he's got a ceiling as an athlete in the NFL in terms of being a stud, but makes a lot of tackles so the plays he's supposed to make...he will make...ST and maybe in the rotation @ ILB.

With the 1st of our two 7th round picks...7.8.233...the Steelers selected.

LeShaun Sims, CB - Southern Utah

Listed as 6', 203...good size for an outside CB or slot...his stock seems to be on the rise as a potential 5 or 6 round pick.

With Cortez Allen finally released...Cockrell, Gay, Golson and rookie WJ3 would be the top 4 CBs most likely...with almost nothing behind, we felt another CB was a good choice here.

@FaCe-LeE-uS...another thanks here.

Looks like we might get this draft completed today....maybe.

This have been an excellent mock draft @ATL96Steeler ! :suds:

Still can't believe that we have come away with every single player we have been targeting so far. Sims was BPA for me going into the 7th so that wasn't exactly a target from the get go. And we basically called an audible after Cortez Allen was released. There were 3-4 other CB's available that were projected higher than Sims, but if anyone did their homework they would see that he was the better choice. Reminds me of Jacoby Glenn out of last year. Long rangy CB with great ball skills & speed. Small school player.

No matter what happens with this last pick, I'm damn happy with the results!

Thanks for steering the ship ATL! :suds:

I admit, there's some work involved to do it right, but I enjoyed it actually. Your help was bigger than you might think.

I think we made out great with our top 4 picks...all were BPA on our board...and I think Sims and Roberts would make the squad...ironic, but I think our 3rd round pick would probably get more playing time than any other rookie this season!!

I'm curious to see where they fall next week.

With our final pick of the 2016 NFL Hoopsta Mock Draft

7.25.250
Steelers selected...Joel Heath, DE, Mich St.

6'5", 293lbs...long arms...he fits the mold in terms of height/weight...developmental player. Best case, he makes the team and gets some rotation snaps to relieve Tuitt/Heyward...Worst case he provides competition for LT Walton.

This draft is a wrap!

Yep...The FAs Green and Foster took TE and G off the board...didn't find a swing OT that I liked late...I have a feeling Colbert will add a WR late.

@ATL96Steeler

Doin a bit of reminiscing here... Pretty cool to see how we fared last year. We should revive these threads after the draft every year to see how we do!

Our 2016 mock:
1.25 - William Jackson III - CB Houston
2.58 - Jeremy Cash - SS Duke
3.89 - Javon Hargrave - DT SC St
4.125 - Jordan Jenkins - OLB Georgia
6.224 - Elandon Roberts - ILB Houston
7.233 - LeShaun Sims - CB South Utah
7.250 - Joel Heath - DE Mich St

Actual 2016 draft:
1.25 - Artie Burns - CB Miami
2.58 - Sean Davis - CB/S Maryland
3.89 - Javon Hargrave - DT SC St
4.125 - Jerald Hawkins - OT LSU
6.224 - Travis Feeney - OLB Wash
7.233 - DeMarcus Ayers - WR Houston
7.250 - Tyler Matakevich - ILB Temple

If we go by positions drafted alone, then we were 5/7. We nailed the top 3 in order. And ATL hit the homerun on Hargrave in the 3rd. Still a mystery to me how Jeremy Cash went undrafted last year. Guess he was viewed as more of a LB, since he has converted since being with the Panthers. Still this was a pretty damn successful mock.
