Pleas read the full thread and you may understand better. I quoted a post where a Viking fan said they would be competitive or beat the Seahawks by using the Ground and Pound.

My point was that the Vikes were not able to use the ground and pound against the struggling Packers to win the game. They won it because of other things that happened. So if the ground and pound did not work to beat the Packers just how can it be expected to work against a better defense than the Packers have going up against the Seahawks,

The post was not about last night but about your next weeks game

Weather is definitely the wild card here. Cold is largely irrelevant. Heck snow isn't really that much of a deterrent to a good passing game. Rain and wind are the enemy of a good passing game.

Really cold weather does hurt a passing game. Ball gets hard and slick. It's going to be THAT cold on Sunday from the sounds of it too.

It will be the coldest game Seattle as a franchise has ever played in during their entire history of the team.....and not just by a little but by a lot. The worst they have ever been in before this was something like 30 degrees. It is likely going to be just a little north of 10 degrees from the sounds of the weather reports.

The difference between 10 degrees and 30 degrees when playing football or doing any outdoor physical activity really is HUGE. There is a good reason we keep building indoor stadiums here!

And to make matters worse is that the stadium they are playing in was designed for college games (never have a game played past early December). So it was designed with a huge opening on one end that lets the wind in. If the wind even gets up to 10-15 MPH (haven't seen the forecast for that yet), it is going to be miserable even for people that are used to it. For people that aren't used to it, it is going to be just awful.

you know the thing is, the Vikes have been an indoor team for a long time and I don't think playing in the cold has been an advantage for this squad. we got our work cut out for us sunday regardless of conditions

When was the last time the Vikings played a January game outside?

This might not exactly be a huge advantage for them, but I hope so

I've played a lot of football in the cold. You forget about the cold about 2 minutes after playing.

I find it exceedingly unlikely that they have never played a game in weather below 30 degrees in their history. Not that franchise histories matter in this context but that seems like a difficult stat to believe. In fact it took me about 30 seconds to disprove it..

Yeah, yeah...yeah, AP this and AP that, but the REAL RUN THREAT coming @chu Seachickens next weekend is #31...THAT kid was running the rwak hard last night...add in a "wheel-route pass play or two" for the kid this week and your TOAST Seattle!

Mckinnon is impressive

if Teddy can hit him accurately once or twice, he could do damage

I had googled and read this:

Seahawks win coldest NFL game in Seattle history - HeraldNet.com

In what is officially being recorded as the coldest NFL game in Seattle history -- the temperatures was 31 degrees at kickoff -- the Seahawks showed no signs of frigidity.

Seattle history being HOME games is not mentioned but is probably the case.

You forget about the cold playing in 30 degrees within a couple of minutes. No doubt about it. When it is 10 degrees, it really is a different beast. There is no forgetting that kind of cold especially if there is a breeze.

....and they build indoor stadiums for more than just the fans. Most players hate playing in those games too. Recruiting FA's to MN is hard enough as it is....if we played permanently outdoors, it would be even harder.

I can't imagine a scenario other than the Vikes offensive giving up scores where Seattle puts up 30. Not in the cold during the playoffs against what is now a pretty healthy Vikes D.

I'm hoping for a low-scoring affair with numerous Seattle turnovers

If it guarantees a Minny win I'm in!

I was just recalling how Bud Grant wouldn't let his teams have those heaters on the sidelines so they toughened up. Deathly cold is not something we get much out here in the Pacific Southwest....

Wind is a bigger factor certainly. I think you are grossly overstating the impact of cold on a football game.

If the cold were a real home field advantage, why would they choose to build an indoor stadium?

Green Bay seems to do ok recruiting people. Minny is only really cold late in the season and there are lots of other really cold football cities.
