Doubtful Saban or Meyer could do the things Patterson is doing with 2 and 3 star recruits.

Because finishing 2nd place in a down Big12 where Oklahoma and Texas suck is a big time accomplishment?

TCU hasn't accomplished anything. And I'd bet money that if either of those coaches went to TCU the days of 2 and 3 star recruits would be over and they'd bump up the talent levels pretty fast.

Bad stuff. It didn't happen at BG, Utah or at tOSU. As I have said some things were acceptable in the SEC they are not elsewhere.

Umm, bullshit.

So you are agreeing the SEC recruits get bumps in ratings solely because of being in the SEC.:yahoo:

I think it's more a matter of how many schools(of good quality) offer and want a kid. So in that way, yes.

The entire Big12 had a total of 1 5 star recruit this past year. As a whole, the conference is on a downward slide and is no where near the power it was before all those teams left.

You never know how that works out. It is not as easy as people think. That may explain why the greatest coach in Michigan State history the last 35 years has been Mark Dantonio

I know a team actually needs to have an accomplishment before you start to talk about their accomplishments.

What does Michigan St really have to show for it's "success" over the past few years while Penn St and Ohio St have been under sanctions, combined with a Michigan program that can't pull it's head out of it's ass?

Still the most success. OSU missed 1 yr. They got off amazingly unscathed considering the charges. Had a couple nice bowl wins. Nice final rankings. Name a coaxh that has been more successful at MSU in the time frame

What sanctions were Ohio State under in 2013? The year before Penn State's sanctions they were 5th in the Big Ten. Before that they were sixth. Not exactly tearing it up.

So 2 division titles, 2 conference title, Rose Bowl title, and a Big 6 bowl win is not "successful"? So only national titles are the only measure of success.

I'm unaware of any other time frame that the same conditions existed.

Not to take anything away from Dantonio, he's a good coach and commendable for sticking it out at Michigan St when he could obviously take a better job. But winning and having success in the Big10 these past few years isn't exactly a very difficult road.

Counting division titles kind of says it all for the success of Michigan St.

Grats for the success, but yes if you want to start comparing your coach to Saban and Meyers, you might want to consider national titles just a bit.

Sorry, Missouri isn't a contender.

They played what? Two ranked teams and lost by a combined 76-13??

Last year was a mini rebuilding year for Mizzou. A Mizzou coach said during the season that this is the best young talent they have ever had under Gary Pinkel.

There will be a lot of talk for Georgia to win the East…..many in the media will blow up Tennessee next year. Mizzou will win the East again and will be much better.

In no particular order:

Alabama: Quarterback play will be key. Jake Coker will be the favorite to win the job, but Cooper Bateman, David Cornwell and Blake Barnett will all make their case for the job.

Auburn: Nick Marshall and Cameron Artis-Payne will need to be replaced.

Baylor: Will Seth Russell prove to be an adequate replacement for Bryce Petty?

Clemson: Will Deshaun Watson be healthy enough?

Georgia: Can Nick Chub carry the load?

Ohio State: Who will lead the Nations best returning team?

Oregon: Vernon Adams' transfer from Eastern Washington looms large. Can he lead the Ducks to the promised land or will he even win the QB job?

USC: Cody Kessler could be the Nation's best QB.

TCU: Just how good are the Horned Frogs?

UCLA: Can 18 returning starters erase last season's disappointment?

"Will Jaret Stidham prove to be an adequate replacement for Seth Russell, who proved to be an adequate replacement for Bryce Petty?"
