Well, another season wraps up and what have we learned. I full expect us to lose after this embarrassing effort shown in game 1. Our fearless manager does the exact same thing he did last year in Game 1 with pulling Kershaw for Baez and the same thing happens.
Our team is just not built for the post season as I have said the entire year. Mattingly is not worth a darn as a manager and can't coach small ball (why wasn't Turner bunted over with his double). Why is Puig and Hernandez not starting tonight? A 90% Puig is better than Crawford at 100%. These are common sense moves that have to be made. Why did Greinke not get Game 1 either? He is our best pitcher this year.
Yes, we had injuries but those are apart of the game. Things we need to address in the offseason.
1. What will the rotation look like? Greinke is a must and I think we get it done quickly. If so, we have Kersh, Greinke, Ryu and Wood for sure. We can get Anderson back or look elsewhere. We need to lock down the rotation. McCarthy wont be back till June at the earliest. Mike Leake might be an option or we can roll with Bolsinger till McCarthy is back. At any rate, we need 2 starting pitchers and Urias isn't ready.
2. Address the bullpen. We need at least two arms in there for sure with one being a reliable set up man. No need to go over the reason why we need bullpen help.
3. Fill in the gaps with the offense. Kendrick should be back so the infield will be set. The outfield is a jam. We need to find a way to unload Crawford. That leaves Either, Hernandez, Joc and Puig. A healthy Puig should help for sure but I am not sure Either is the answer. We might look at trades as nobody is ready in the Minors yet.
Lastly, we need a new manager. This has been beat to death but its obvious that Mattingly isn't the answer here. I hope we have a better 2016 with the draft, developing players in our farm and stay aggressive in International signings. Too bad Eddy Julio Martinez wont be playing for LA. Bad move in not signing him I feel.
Thoughts??
