I think Baylor and Briles now know it's all on the line. And since Petersen has been involved by them, he has a stake as well. Just unbelievable how this has happened and progressed.

Welp - Briles just called Peterson a liar.

This will continue to get uglier before it gets better.

In the meantime, I hope the victim is getting the help she needs.

The whole thing is ugly.

Briles gambled the way a number have coaches have gambled: he threw the dice on a talented player who had some issues- but the dice came up snake eyes, and he's the one that now has to deal with it.

I haven't done my research on this, can someone tell me the difference in this situation and Johnathan Taylor, Alabama/UGA?

Saban kicked Taylor off the team immediately after a bogus assault claim. This kid is still on the team and the coaches are "looking forward to having him play for Baylor this year".

Couple things

1. This is the second Baylor football player found guilty of sexual assault
2. Both victims reportedly had their scholarship money reduced
3. His ex-girlfriend testified that BSU officials told her to find new residence for a couple days as she was not safe
4. She also said officers guarded Uwatchku (sp?) roommate
5. The judge was a Baylor grad
6. Not buying that Briles suspected nothing when a Freshmen All-American suddenly comes available

That's because you mischaracterized the Taylor/Alabama case . .

Saban took some bad press for signing the kid.
The kid gets arrested.
Saban uses it as an easy out and kicks the kid off the team.
The charges are dropped.
Saban does not reinstate the kid because he doesn't want the bad press . . . again.

never said that.

point was, other coaches have looked the other way and let a known woman beater onto their teams. Saban, just recently, for example.

If you think I'm defending this POS, then you have not read any of my posts or twitter copies.

should have formed this sentence better...should have quoted Briles as "talented player with issues". Point is, he gambled on this scumbag and lost.

Jury came in after about 2 1/2 hours deliberation: Jury recommends 8 years in prison, but gets probation, 6 months jail time.

wow
So per Baylor DE Sam Ukwuachu sentenced to six months in county jail, 10 years probation | NCAA Football | Sporting News the jury did recommend 8 years but probated. He wouldn't have seen jail time unless he fucked up probation. The judge actually made it more of a punishment by stretching it to 10 years probation and adding 6 months in jail.

It's still a huge pile of steaming bullshit that he's not getting more than 6 months jail time.

So this guy raped a girl. It wasn't drunken sex where she was too intoxicated to give consent. It wasn't where she sorta said no and kept leading him on. She was clearly not into it, clearly said no, and he took her virginity by force.

And he has a history of violence against women.

For that he gets 6 months and people are saying the judge upped the sentence from what the jury wanted.

He raped a girl. The university and city kept it under wraps. The university ran the girl off. He gets 6 months and the administration/HC get plausible deniability.

That's pretty fucked up.

There are many things you can accuse Saban of, but you are way off base here. Saban is a disciplinary coach and is all business. He kicks players who screw up off the team with the quickness on serious cases, and it doesn't matter how big of a recruit they are(which is why Alabama's secondary was a little weak last year, the guys who should have been there got kicked off).

He suspended a 1st round draft pick lineman the night before the Utah game in 2008. He does not give a fuck who you are, if you screw up there will be consequences.

Trying to play it off as if Saban makes such decisions because of some bad press is just ignorant to the kind of coach he is in general.
