The real issue here is that it's a position/unit of strength while the offensive line remains woefully understaffed. Not that NFL teams can't multitask, but as I mentioned last night as pointed out by Tim Shields, the Rams have just four offensive linemen right now only two of which have starting experience.

The discomfort that leaves isn't going away even if the Rams were to add a defensive tackle of Fairley's caliber.

I don't mind this.....Good replacement for Langford and should come at an affordable price. I wouldn't worry about him either because Williams knows how to get his players to give 100%.

We do need to get some OL talent in here tho.

Your quote from Tim Shields can't be right Vita if the rosters posted by many of the sports venues including the Rams' own website are correct. WE have more than four O-lineman: Greg Robinson, Roger Saffold, Brandon Washington, Brett Jones, Steven Baker, and Travis Bond. That makes at least six and some sites list Barnes who is a RFA. SO am not sure Tim Shields has his info correct.

The devils in the details Retro!

The point of the thread however... We are looking to spend $$ on the D Line when we all know the shape of our O Line...

Seeing how many good DT's are on the market, it will be awhile IMO when and IF we sign one.

Wilfork, Raji are still out there.

I guess I wouldn't be opposed, as long as we're not paying through the nose for depth (which is essentially what Fairley would be).

The only defensive free agent I covet is Akeem Ayers. Otherwise... stick to improving the offense.

Don't forget. Hays, Sims, Brockers will all be FA in 16. what looks like a strength one year can change quickly. you have to look ahead.

Brockers in my opinion can go; he hasn't really done much since he has been here. If Farly came cheap sure, but Hayes has a motor so I'd like to retain him if we could. Sim's got called for some bogus penalties last season but can get to the QB some so I'd like to retain him as well. Brockers can hit the door as I don't think there will be much of a drop off if he leaves.

Drop off from Brockers will depend on who his backup is. Right now, is there one? Carrington?

I don't think Fairley is the right fit to replace Brockers, as Fairley is more of a pass rusher if my memory serves. Brockers occupies blockers and frees up linebackers.

We also have Matt Conrath who has hung around for three years now and has built himself up to the 325lb level at 6'7.

I wonder how much BJ Raji would cost? I'd like to see a vet added instead of a rookie in the draft. We should use our draft capital on the O-Line and playmakers from both side of the ball

True Retro, but Matt has done absolutely nothing while being on the rams. What happened to Carrington?

That front four just got deeper and scarier. With the way the Rams defense came on towards the end of the year under Williams, I have a feeling we might be a Top 5, if not Top 3, defense next season.
