I've found some trade rumors involving the Pens less fun of late because I'm convinced that media guys throw their name into the pot simply because Pens fans eat it up and create page clicks like none other. I say this and the Pens will in fact acquire Glencross, just because.

Friedman: Anaheim, Boston, Pittsburgh and Winnipeg have called about Glencross

on Sportsnet 960 radio in Calagary this morning.

He says contract talks with the Flames have gone nowhere and doubts Flames would do a trade with Winnipeg. He thinks Glencross would waive to go to Anaheim and says the Flames would have to have discussions with Glencross and discuss whether he would actually move on.

I'm assuming the return would have to be NHL talent, simply because of their current place?

Devils' Jaromir Jagr on being traded: 'What's the reason to keep me?' | NJ.com

"If something comes up, I'll be traded," Jagr told NJ Advance Media on Monday. "What's the reason to keep me? I'm not important to this team."

Same with defenseman Marek Zidlicky. He does have a no-trade clause but hasn't decided if he'd be willing to waive it.

"I don't think about it. I can't say anything right now. We'll see," Zidlicky said. "It's not easy. It really doesn't matter if you have a no-trade. It happened to me one time and I had a no-trade."

Others who could be in the line of fire include Scott Gomez, Michael Ryder, Martin Havlat and Steve Bernier.

I am in full on sell mode. Trade everyone. I want 15 picks in this years draft.

Maybe the Flames could pry one of the Pens young defense prospects in exchange for Glengarry?

Sorry, good ol' mortgage the future Shero is no longer with the team.

With that crop of "talent", those picks will all be in the 8th round.

I will gladly take 3rd/4th rounders for anyone not named Jagr. And unlike the guys Toronto is trying to unload these guys all having cheap, expiring deals. They'll get some interest from a team looking for depth.

Bernier is an interesting one. He would be a great 3rd line addition to a contender looking to round out their bottom 6.

This would actually be a good addition - he's not the offense guy they need to replace Slava but he's good defensively, can hit and he's one of the best conditioned players on his team

Replacing the "mortgage the future" guy with the "gave Semin 7 years" guy isn't exactly progress.

Certainly something that ran through my mind when he was hired, but to this point I think he's assembled a fairly good roster. 50% roster turnover, Perron deal, etc. That said there's time to make pretty stupid deals.

some of these I knew. some of the reasons Im blown away by on how they didnt happen, it probably deserves to be in the Edmonton Comedy Gold thread

Celebrating the NHL Trades That Weren’t «

Lowe also wouldn't re-sign Ryan Smyth over a difference of 100 grand according to several reports and left us with that tear-jerker scene at the Edmonton International Airport. But he knows something about winning.

Hah, exactly. I'd be geeked, but rational me knows it probably doesn't end in the fairy tale I wish it to.

If they can get Jagr for a 3rd rounder, go for it. Anything more is pointless. He isn't giving you any more production than the average replacement top sixer.

Yeah despite the comment I can't really knock him, yet.

If only they hadn't traded this year's third for freaking Marcel Goc last year. Again, Ray "Mortgage the future" Shero**. And Jagr playing with Geno is really tempting, because Geno would draw enough attention to get Jags in space, which even at 43 is beautiful to see. If it were to happen I imagine he'd go there and Comeau to the third line, helps overall depth, etc.

**The guy did make good moves in '08 and '09, but the fiasco of the Iggy, Morrow, Doug Murray stuff is still fresh.
