And SF lost a game.

And 1 game in KCs streak is notoriously B.S.

>Orta gets on because of Denkinger
> Jack Clark drops an easy out by Balboni
>Balboni singles
>Orta thrown out at 3rd on failed sac bunt by sundberg
> Cardinals got "screwed" and lose game 6
> Cardinals get destroyed in game 7
> Logic

Yeah, total BS though, nothing to do with Clark or game 7, not at all; was Denkinger's fault. :L

SF has lost lots of games. Not sure what has to do with streak of 9, though.
What streak are we talking about? I thought the Royals was a postseason wins streak with the 30 year break. Giants obviously dont have the same streak.

Royals are currently favored. I think the favored team has lost in almost every matchup this postseason, though. Or is it every matchup? I want to compare this matchup to a previous World Series but I dont think we've seen a team like the Royals in recent memory.

There are a lot of stats that favor the Royals in the matchup and the Royals have home field because the Cards pitchers got destroyed in the All Star Game.

I just cant shake the feeling that the young team isnt going to hold up against the veterans

I never said the two streaks were of the same thing.

While I hope you are right, I saw a stat the other day that the team with HFA has won something like 23 of the last 25 World Series'. While that may be true, though, I am not sure if that is meaningful or coincidental. It isn't like all these series' went 7 games where the HFA actually played a significant part.

Let's be clear. I think Cal is talking about consecutive series won, while the Royals' streak being discussed is consecutive games won. The relevant stat for the Royals would be the 8 game winning streak, as nobody on the 1985 team is on the 2014 Royals. LOL! It is fair to discuss the Giants series winning streak, as the same core is there when it began.

Not "series", exactly, but yes. This is what I was referring too.

That makes a bit more sense. They were listed side by side...not really streaks since they arent consecutive years, imo, but the general gist is the same: really hot Royals team vs really experienced Giants team.

Lots of problems for the Giants. Royals have already beated Bum this year, swept the Giants this year, Pence doesnt hit Shields well, Royals bullpen somehow better than the Giants bullpen, Royals should be able to run at will on the bases.

Giants have the experience card, the locker room and their stadium which I dont think the Royals have played there in over a decade. Giants also have the best starting pitcher but the Nationals and Cardinals weren't exactly known for their offense.

I do think the Royals are legit favorites.

The Royals primary strength lines up perfectly with a pretty large weakness of the Giants. That could be fatal.

SP, while close, is slightly in SFs favor.

SF has a deeper bully, but the heart of KCs bully is stronger.

KC has a stronger OF defense, but the Giants infield D is stronger.

Offense is probably a slight nod to SF, but not significantly.

KC has a HUGE weapon in speed. SF has a HUGE advantage in experience and coaching.

Will the week off be enough time for the Giants to put together a plan to counter KCs speed? Which team will be more affected by the time off? KC is practicing at home, on the field they are going to play games 1 and 2, while the Giants are practicing on a different field and have to travel a day or so before the game.

GAWD I am excited.

I'm going through withdrawal. We need to get this party started.

BTW, Hunter Pence chews on moth balls in the dugout.

Has there ever been as long a delay between league championships and starting the WS as there as this year? Seems to me that MLB is once again taking a hit in the money ball race by not having begun the series sooner.
