I wish I was over reacting but let me be frank here. Sincerely the worst game I have ever attended ever (maybe second to Tennessee in 2005, season ticket holder since '98). I did not expect a National Championship campaign out of LSU this year, but man to get embarrassed at home in front of the newly expanded stadium by Dan Mullens nonetheless... it was pathetic. The worst play calling offensively, 0 defense, having the gall to go for 4th down on the 3 yard line when you didn't move the ball an inch on 1st through 3rd down. I think LSU has no guaranteed wins in conference play.

The SEC west has a lot of good teams. That is clear. Could any of those teams lose to top teams from other conferences? Absolutely.

If every team knows that you have to win your conference to get in, then there should be no complaining at the end. They know their goal, they need to go make it happen.

Then take the top 4 conference winners.

2012 FSU over Florida.

BTW, in this scenario you do realize that you would be rewarding Florida for not winning their division by not making them play an extra game against a top team?

I don't think it should be only conference champs, but I think there should be special consideration for them. So if there are two teams that are close, and one won their conference while another did not even win their division, then it should go to the conference champion.

I only agree to the extent you are trying to choose between teams with similar records. if it's between a 12-1 conference champ and a 11-1 team that didn't win the conference champ, you take the 12-1 team.

The problem with his statement is when the conference champ is some 9-4 team because of one bad game by a 12-0 or 11-1 team.. That conference needs represented but you can't include a 9-4 team in the playoff.

^^^This, conference champs are fine as long as they don't have multiple losses.

Problem is, is that there will be 5 Conference Champions.

I'm curious to know, other than Wisconsin in 2012 due to two teams being ineligible, what team has won their conference with the most losses?

sorry, don't have time to look it up.

I don't even mind a conference champ with multiple losses *if* that conference played a tough ooc and dominated it.

Conference champs or bust for me. Its a joke otherwise based on nothing but peoples opinions.

And??? If there is a year where a 7-6 team wins their conference (a few years ago UCLA was 6-6 and in the PAC CCG) over a 12-0 team, should the 12-0 team be eliminated from a playoff based solely on the one loss in the CCG? Take a look at who's good, and figure it out from there.

How would a team "dominate' their conference with a loss.

While I do not agree about the conference champion set up, I will say that the issue you brought up s something I have been saying for quite some time. Why should a team get rewarded for sitting at home while other teams are playing on Championship Saturday?

Read much? I said if they dominate their tough ooc as a conference. A loss or a few would come in conference.

Thought it was pretty clear myself.

Facing a B1G team in the playoffs is equivalent to a first round bye, so I don't give a shit.

Says the guy whose team was just bitch slapped by big game Bob last year... and as I recall, you guys said the same thing about them.

Yes but UCLA was not the best in the South. USC was, but they were ineligible.

Much like when Wisconsin won the B1G because tOSU wasnt eligible.

I could understand a team getting overlooked even if they won their conference, only if the best team was ineligible.

Exactly, It doesn't make sense. Teams usually get rewarded with a bye if they do good not an extra game.

Making a Conference Champ a criteria, makes that conference champ game all the more worth while and meaningful.

Plus the Conference champ game becomes a defacto play off round.

If the SEC is upset because they think they have the two best teams, who cares. Beat the best in your conference and then it should be cruise sailing after that if that is how you feel. Why should SEC teams get do overs.

If anyone should have a problem with teams getting in who don't win the conf, it should be LSU. No one wanted to see another Bama/LSU matchup, but that's what we got a few years ago. LSU should have played OK St.
