"BYU beat Texas, must be a playoff team"

~ Texas fans

BYU is a decent team that exposed Texas, nothing more.

Last year they did the same thing but lost 5 games which include Utah, Virginia, and Washington.

Sorry, i forgot to use my sarcasm font. I was pointing out how funny some of ya'll look talking up FCS teams just because they gave your favorite team trouble. Carry on.

they beat texas by more points than oregon did in the rose bowl last year.

oh nevermind, the rose bowl was beneath oregon last year.

They also got whooped by Utah and Washington teams Oregon curb stomped.

These "beat em by more" arguments literally can go on forever.

i know. but i am just pointing out they were dominant and looking at their schedule they have a real shot to go undefeated. and if they do, it will be interesting to see if they do make the playoff. they don't play a tough schedule, but they don't play total pushovers either. their schedule probably isn't much worse than most big 10 teams.

Ya, they do. Their schedule is very weak compared to last year.

Not too make excuses for Iowa because we defintely havent played well but UNI is a top 5 FCS level team which probably equates to a 6 or 7 win FBS team and Ball State won double digit games last year and is solid. Does that mean Iowa shouldnt beat them both by 15+?? Hell no but the reality is that both the teams we beat are probably better than at least 3 or 4 teams in the B10. Maybe more.

Wow. Pimping an FCS team and an average MAC team? I've seen it all. Neither of these programs get players. They are consistently outside the top 100 in recruiting. Sure they'll get some transfers but the talent gap for a big 10 team compared to them should be over whelming.

which of those teams beat 5 ranked teams?

and furthermore... i never said BYU was better than Oregon. But for someone to cry from laughter for someone to mention BYU might be a playoff team is absurd.

How would Texas fair against NDSU, EWU and other top FCS schools this season?

You'd likely be talking them up a bit too if you faced them.

Well if you faced them this year, Texas posters may have vacated the board...

Take a trip back a couple of years and we have Rutgers and Maryland joining the B1G as the power play of the year. The revenue alone is all that anyone cared about.

Fast forward to last weekend were we see losses by Michigan State at Oregon and Ohio State losing at home to VT and Michigan being drubbed by ND 31 - 0.

Even the winners weren't impressive. Nebraska barely got by McNeese and Ball State. Penn State sneaks past UCF and Akron.

At least Iowa beat their MAC foe. Northwestern and Purdue...not so much.

But now I understand why the B1G selected the cream from the Big East and ACC. Rutgers and Maryland at 2 - 0 are leading the way.

...

I don't expect Oregon to go undefeated. The Pac looks very good this year.

And even if MSU wins out and the committee is looking at Oregon and MSU....

Oregon's win over the Spartans could be the game that decides which team makes the playoffs.

Going undefeated is pretty tough in a power conference. Michigan State is still in the ballgame. Of the top 4 teams, Florida State still has the best chance to run the table followed by Oklahoma.

nah. I know how good the FCS top tier is.

I talked them up last year too when we curb stomped Idaho state.

Of course that was after EWU whooped the beavers.

You can face the facts that the top tiered FCS schools are legitimate threats to most of the FBS or you can stick your head in the sand and pretend they all suck.

The facts are out there to be had though.

FCS is winning more matchups every year with the FBS, more and more transfers from FBS schools to FCS scools are happening.

The FCS isn't what it used to be, at least not at the top.

Thats just the documented facts of the matter.

Dude, Nebraska beat 2 teams in one day? That's pretty impressive.
