I have waffled on McCarthy, but his resurgence in NY has made me more of a believer.

I have to admit I didn't think he would have much success back in the AL and certainly not much in NY, glad for the guy he has had it tough over the years

We give Rosales crap, but he does what he is supposed to. He's a UIF who goes out and does the job asked of him and gives his all. He cracks me up and is super goofy, but I have to commend him on how well he's played since being called back up.

He is definitely goofy in a completely funny sort of way, I talked to him awhile at the last fanfest and he genuinely just loves playing baseball and is about at a ninth graders maturity level and I don't mean that disrespectfully. His work ethic and attention to the fundamentals remind me of that of Mark Derosa though he doesn't handle the bat quite like Mark.

Mark was a pretty decent ball player for a few year stretch. He really cashed in on learning from MY. Speaking of MY, wonder how long before he signs on as a coach in Texas.

I believe it was years ago 05-06 when Mark was with Texas that Bucky Showalter said he was possibly the most fundamentally sound player he had ever seen and was that way at all positions aside from P, C and CF which were the only positions he didn't play

If MY isn't on the coaching staff of the Rangers in 15, I think he definitely is in 2016

JD was just on the fan and he said we will be in the market for a COF/DH and some innings eaters.
Nothing about a SP? We have inning eaters. Sounds like JD not showing his hand.

Bacsik says there's a plan for a new ballpark in the works and he thinks we'll have a new one in seven years or so. I hope there's a retractable roof

When I think of the term innings-eater I think of pitchers who aren't that great, but who are durable with healthy arms. Maybe someone who can go 6 or 7 innings almost every time out, but whose ERA will be close to about 4.30-4.60.

Tommy hunter might be a good example

Kevin Millwood while he was here would be a classic example. He averaged close to 190 innings while he was here and had an ERA of 4.57.

The problem with that is Milwood was the number 1 pitcher for those Rangers teams...As a 5th starter that wouldn't be all that bad.

I think of guys that are good enough to be out there enough to be considered "innings eaters." Considering Yu isn't coming back we don't have any innings eaters. I'm not sure why DT said we had plenty.

What do you call Baker, Martinez, Tepesch/ These fit the definition of good enough to be out there enough. They certainly are not considered SP except as necessary replacements for injured starters. Maybe I don't know the exact definition of IE's but these guys aren't my idea of SP's.

Tepesch/Martinez are both 4/5 candidates. The problem is when you rely on them to be 3s. They aren't capable of giving that kind of performance.

Meant to say, these guys are my idea of IE's since they start and go 5 or 6 innings.

If JD isnt sending the message organization wide that he wants that first pick, I dont know what else he could do. Darvish is likely done, Choo's done, all of our catchers are gone, Holland is probably not gonna be up here, etc

I usually don't hear an ace or even a really good pitcher referred to as an innings eater. Usually they refer to someone that way when that is the best part of their game. Of course I am sure each person has their own interpretation of a term like that.
