:L Really? You are normally better than this man.

Name me any other HC that inherited an equally stocked and experienced team from Oregon's past. It's entirely irrelevant. He didn't fall flat on his face, but he also didn't really put his own stamp on it and improve it much either. I know you all wanted to see him move to a higher threat passing game and maybe he did? :noidea: Still wasn't anything substantial.

well Chip Kelly inherited a team that went 10-3 and just won their bowl game. players coming back included Masoli, Blount, James, Maehl, Dickson, Thurmond III, Byrd, Tukuafu, bair, Alonzo, Matthews, York, Asper, Ward.
So its not like Kelly inherited a bunch of scrubs coming off a no win season.

It wasnt about the record so much as deflating balls and changing numbers on players and other shadiness

WTF , you said first year record, now you want to change your stance. Typical fucking Duck. BTW the ball thing was his 3rd year so what is it.

When it was pointed out that Kiffin had a better first year than Carroll and look at what it got him, my response was meant as Kiffin was let go more because of the things he did throughout, and his first year record had nothing to do with his end.

Helf inherited a better team than Kelly. PERIOD. End of discussion.

The only difference between their first years on the job is one won their bowl game and the other didn't. The one who won had the Alamo and the one who lost had the Rose.

Tell me again about how much better his first season was than Kelly?

I didnt say his first season was better. he had the best first season record. there is a difference.

11-2 is better than 10-3 as a pure record all day long.
the question is 11-2 second place in the division and Alamo winner or 10-3 Conference Champs Rose bowl loser, which is the bettter?

And I said it was irrelevant because he inherited the best team any head coach had ever had there. Are we going to keep going in circles? Kelly had a major slip early in his first year and came back strong. Helf rode the wave left over from the prior year. I'd day Kelly had a tougher first year and did more with it.

Any attempt to paint Helf as anything that special is at a minimum way too early. Let's see what happens when he has to rebuild and reload next year. Let's see how he works with year two and his new defense. And how his recruiting comes along as he gets farther and farther away from Kelly's influence.

for the record it was 1000 yards passing difference from 12 to 13. it brought a balance to oregon's offense. 3789 passing 3556 rushing
2012 was 2888 passing vs 4098 rushing
2011 was 3130 passing vs 4189 rushing

Yeah, and I said that was what you all were hoping for, but I'm not sure that offense was that much better than prior years given the outcomes. That was my point. I know they passed more. Said as much.

Chip kelly lost early and then lost to an unranked stanford in game 9. Helf started strong and had his best player playing injured and they lost a couple late.
I am not trying to paint him as anything special, im trying to say that counting him out, saying he cant do it, that his team doesn't trust him, that he lost control, is rediculous and so far he is doing fine.

2013 7345 yards, 45.5 pts per game
2012 6986 yards, 49.6 pts per game
2011 7319 yards, 46.1 pts per game
2010 6899 yards, 46.8 pts per game

relatively the same but at the same time defenses have to account for more passing

If we aren't able to navigate through a terrible Big12 undefeated, then we wont win shit.

We don't need to go undefeated. We have a good shot to get in with 1 loss. Its very difficult to go undefeated.

1st & foremost, the Big 12 isnt weak & OU is a vastly overrated preseason #5. 2nd, OU hasnt gone undefeated in the Big 12 in 10 years & it ain't happening this year either.

Well, here's the point; The Big 12 would be weak if Oklahoma and Texas were doing their jobs. And because Mack completely stopped coaching god knows when, and Bob took a 4 year vacation, isn't any reason to accept that.

Looks like Bob decided to start coaching again and Texas has something new to hope for. Oklahoma overrated at preseason #5, yeah probably, but that's what happens when you actually beat somebody.

All it takes to go undefeated in this conference is a good defense. Something we might have this year, maybe.

Jesus. Aggies and now Sooners. Someone needs to hand out a "We Beat Bama" trophy, apparently it almost equivalent of a NC. I wonder if La Tech has one in their trophy case.
