Time will tell. OU is still a young team. Trevor Knight needs to have a breakout year. If Keith Ford and Joe Mixon can get the running game going to take some pressure off the offense should be really good. The defense will be even better.

Obviously I want them to win it all, but I need to see if Knight can maintain the momentum he had in the Sugar. it was one game and it was a helluva game for the kid, but I want to see how he comes out of the gate this year before I predict the season.


I looking forward to seeing a much improved defense on this team.

They are responding to a post I made previously Re: Oky.

My post was about the fact they have finished ranked lower than their initial rank of the season in 11 of 13 seasons. Probably do to many #1 ranks and several top 5s.

Just wondering what to expect from Oky was point of post.

Texas A&M doesn't belong anywhere on that list. I'd say putting Mizzu on there is questionable as well.

Oregon plays 3 of those. MSU, Stanford, UCLA.

Tough for the a Ducks to get there. Lots of returning players but are replacing DC Aliotti. New Def coord Pellum is changing the defense up trying to change the "soft" image. Should be interesting.

From that list, I do not see aTm, South Carolina, Clemson, Wisky as contenders at all.

I don't see Clemson being a contender this year. They lost too much on the offense. QB and top 2 WR went to NFL. Kicker is also gone.

Same for Texas A&M. QB and 3 of top 4 WR went to NFL.

I think a lot of people are reading too much into the Sugar Bowl win. Like stated in previous replies this OU team is young, Knight isn't proven yet. That said the defense should be a lot better than last year, though not enough to warrant a lot of the pre-season hype. The potential is there but potential has never won shit.

Ya, I mentioned that also in initial post that I erased re Oky.

Beating Goliath in the Sugar could be a reading too much into it scenario.

And it also could be the confidence and momentum boost needed going into 2014. I think both scenarios are in play and up for debate.

I think they have a solid OL, so that should really mitigate the reliance on Knight. Defense should be very good. It will be odd to see the Big 12. I can see a new world where you have OU and Texas relying more on defense and the ground game than on spread offenses chucking it around.

From that list, I do not see Wisky as contenders at all.

Have you seen our schedule? We could be the 25th best team in America, and if we find a way past LSU in the opener, we should finish the year undefeated. We return 4 OL starters plus our blocking fullback, our running back with the most YPC in NCAA history, and our quarterback. On paper, our defense isn't very good, but we have a coach with an incredible defensive resume. If Gary Andersen and Dave Aranda are the defensive minds many think they might be, this team is as much of a contender to make the playoffs as anybody.

This maybe the year a Mississippi school makes a run for it. I doubt they compete for the WEst, but they can certainly make some noise. I think MissState is being over-looked. They are tied with UK for most returning starters in the SEC. Ole Miss is third. Mizzu is a terrible call. Bring back 9 starters, lowest in the SEC. You may overcome that at Bama, LSU, etc, but I seriously doubt that works at Mizzu.

I think people are reading too mcuh into that game. Saban got pantsed. Stoops filled the script and Bama was not ready for it. Does not mean OU wont be good, but that game was more a coaching lesson than an unexpected physical beat down.
