Well the good news for him is the Globetrotters always take that 3rd tier talent as long as you have some ability to act. You don't even need to stay in shape (a la Big Easy). Then he and Boatwright can get straight up playground as much as they want.

Why do athletes often pick these degrees that you can do absolutely NOTHING with after school like sociology? If you are not top tier NBA talent, I would be making sure I get a degree I can use.

Plus the coach is PR for the school... with speaking engagements and what not. For any big school like UCONN they will want to be well represented and he just isn't the face of the franchise that will get much leeway if they start losing.
