Do all players on a 53 man roster play typically? That's what I thought.

Outside of a handful, yes.

They have a Did Not Play report after all NFL games. That report is typically pretty short.

This years Super Bowl, every active player on the Seattle roster played. Only 3 players on the Denver active roster didn't play. 46 for Seattle, and 43 for Denver played a down in the game. http://www.nfl.com/liveupdate/gamecenter/56169/DEN_Gamebook.pdf

Still got your shovel and want to keep digging?

Based solely on how he handles himself in the public eye.

Maybe in private he's the nicest guy in the world, a great grandfather/father but we only see what we see and what we see is he's a douche bag liar.

I know him to be different than the "media" perception and this is why I know your perception of him to be incorrect. You take an incident that was media driven and brand him a liar, when he is not the only coach to ever utter words similar in nature during a season when asked about a possible move on his part. You take the media persona of the man being an asshole and think that is how he is 24/7, but its not.

I would imagine you would be surprised at the number of houses his charities have built in the Tuscaloosa area and given to people who lost everything. I would bet you would be shocked to know that he has personally given not only his time, but personal money on many of these houses and was out, with his players, helping during the cleanup efforts after the tornadoes that took many lives in T-Town. This is not the mark of a douche bag liar, but of a real man not afraid to speak his mind or lend a hand when needed.

Sadly we dont have enough Nick's in today's world, we have guys like the one who is suing McDonalds because he didnt get enough napkins, or asshats that post on the internet as if they know someone based on something they read on the internet. See, I lump both of those categories as being the same, because they are weak minded and cannot think for themselves or dig deeper to know if what they actually read is the truth. You didnt and thus, I lump you with the McDonalds guy because you wont make the effort to see if your right or not, you just repeat what you read. Parrot or mockingbird doesnt fit the Duck category, maybe you should seek to change that.

Sure i would back stoops up on his comments when he complains about something. Most the time its legit and he is bitching about media, the NCAA or other coaches. What he doesn't do is put himself out there advocating a change in the rules with suspect motives.

It is no secret that Sabans rumblings about HUNH offenses began 6+ years ago and none of it was about safety. He used it as a recruiting tactic saying "these spread offenses don't prepare a player for the NFL". Now his opinion had evolved to its all about their "safety".

:bullshit:

You Bama fans are like ya ya 'nodding heads in' unison. Thankfully Stoops hasn't put his neck out there over some fake ass shit like this or I would probably look stupid too.

Atleast Saban is not afraid to try and effect change. Besides, last time I checked, speaking on behalf of his opinion before a committee that is seeking information and opinion on the subject is not necessarily advocating change. Its more along the lines of asking for a study to be done, which is what he has done. I personally am a take charge kinda guy myself and women who sit on the sidelines afraid to speak their mid irritate me and are what is wrong with todays world, not enough men, too many sheep.

Well then, tell me everything else he brought up at the time then.
Should be easy. All I saw reported was that one thing.
There must be multiple issues he talked about to the committee about player safety.

Sure he did, had you read the article that quoted him you would see he brought figures about the number of plays equaling as much as four extra games per year on the players on a HUHN team over the slower paced offenses. He talked about the officials being able to accurately officiate the game if the ball is snapped before even they are ready and spoke about instance when the officials were out of place due to this happenstance. He also spoke on if it creates a competitive imbalance in the game. This is the one you guys all think its about, but he clearly stated that this is not "his" main concern.

Whats funny is that he talked about the NCAA limiting player exposure during a season and then brought in the figures of HUHN offenses having more plays that could equal as much as four extra games per season on the players in terms of exposure on the field. Thats alot on a body and it can create injury issues, so he makes a valid point.

So Saban is still trying to convince everyone that its all about safety while everyone knows it's not.
Amazing really.

Now I know where their fans get it from.

If any of y'all would get your fucking facts straight it might raise the intelligent level of this thread a little. Blah blah blah your little coach hiding behind safety issue. Blah blah blah your dumb ass coach is scared of HUNH. Blah blah blah your coach is losing his edge and has to do whatever necessary to keep up. Blah blah blah your coach is running around telling everyone we need to ban the HUNH.

Y'all have barely gotten ONE damn thing right! I read where he spoke for the FIRST TIME PUBLICLY about it the other day. FIRST TIME! Y'all been telling everyone what he's been doing and thinking and saying for weeks now. How is that possible? Been going with the old make it up approach? I also noticed he said "look into" not change. I also saw where he mentioned looking at the entire evolution of it and it's impact on football in general but y'all just keep on going like the energizer bunny.

Hey Charlie, is this a hate Bama post too? You usually say it is no matter what but than again one needs reading comprehension skills to interpret someone's post correctly. :noidea:

First off. Calm the fuck down. You come across as if we are character assassinating a member of your family.

I'm glade Saban is now telling his side of the story, after weeks now of other Division 1 coaches speaking out calling this rule 'exploration' a joke and a few calling out Saban directly, like Steve Spurrier saying he has been crying about this offense for 6+ years first claiming it was bad for the kids because it wont translate to the NFL. Now its about safety and I'm sure he has some stats or something else cooked up. Excellent. May he continue on his noble venture to "look into" ways of slowing down the HUNH.

He could always try coaching all around defensive players... :D

And again, another example of the magic of getting inside one's head. Calm down? I was as calm as can be when I typed that. The wording might make you ASSUME I wasn't but believe me I was as calm as a cool breeze off the ocean! Then again everyone seems to know everything on here of what someone is thinking so...carry on! :suds:

He also brought up intentionally throwing your depth at a team with much less depth in an attempt to wear them out later in the game as a player safety/fatigue issue....Im sure.

"All you’re trying to do is get lined up [on defense],” Saban told ESPN.com in September. “You can’t play specialty third-down stuff. You can’t hardly scheme anything. The most important thing is to get the call so the guys can get lined up, and it’s got to be a simple call. The offense kind of knows what you’re doing.” -nick saban on the hunh offense....with an oddly lacking concern for player safety.

" In 1997, I said we should have a plus-one or a four-team playoff because most of the years there are issues, it's when there are three (qualified) teams," - nick saban on adding an entire game.

“Coach Saban asked for the opportunity to meet with the committee and talk about this,” Redding said. “It’s not routine, but it’s not unique, either.” - NCAA coordinator of officials Rogers Redding*

"At some point in time, we should look at how fast we allow the game to go in terms of player safety,"* -nick saban

"I had nothing to do with the idea of the 10-second rule,"*- nick saban .

Since day one Saban has said it's about "taking a look at it for player safety AND if this is the direction we want football headed? He also said he "is a defensive coach and it basically takes the coaching out of it."

Why isn't that legit? Can the game not change for the worst? Why don't we turn it into Arena football. Its faster and more exciting (according to y'alls definition of excitement).

It is all the posters in here who decided to take the part on safety (along with media) and focus almost solely on that because it made for a better story and easier to criticize!

Quote from Redding or not Saban was asked, several times, to talk to the committee. He finally said yes.

Saban quote:

"I really don't necessarily have an opinion on the 10-second rule."

I'll give him credit he put the PR firm he has on retainer to good use which is the smart move to try and spin the discussion. I mean he can't come out and just say "I'm trying to get a competitive advantage and it blew up in my face".

LOL!

Let me guess, Saban just happened to be in the neighborhood, the committee looked out the window, saw him, and asked him to speak?

No where does it say he was invited to do anything.

If the committee is thinking about HUNH offenses, WHY invite a coach that doesn't use it or even play against it all that often vs other well known coaches that do? Of what validity does Saban bring to this issue that coaches currently USING this offense, and coaches currently facing it week in and week out do not?

Some of you bama homers are HILARIOUS

Just because I live 15 miles west of Norman doesn't mean I know more than anyone else about Stoops. All I know it's what's reported, which you our anyone else has access to. For all your talking about facts you've produced zero sources and quotes for all the things you supposedly know.
