I guess the only thing I can say to that is what do you mean by "when you were a kid"? Fifteen years? Ten years? Last year?

:suds:

Seriously I've been around for a few years and I can never remember a time when there were only two or three major players in college football. The last few years are probably the closest to that of any.

Well we will all definitely disagree beings that I'm from a different era and what not........I understand and respect ye guise' opinions en shit....

I just seriously feel like the parity in College Football today is far greater than it was when I was a kid in the early 90's.

My dead honest belief is that Nebraska will not win another National Title while I'm alive......no matter who the coach is. I'm 28 years old and I'm expecting to live a long time. That's how certain I am that no coach can succeed at Nebraska.

Can I see Conference Championships? Yes. But greatness? No. Never again.

The farther we get away from our traditions, I would agree with you...

Bo needs to send some of his assistant's out to some successful schools and see if there is anything different we could be doing to help us out. Kinda like Tom did when he / they went to FSU and visited with Bobby Bowden about what made them so good.

I believe there is much more parity today than 15 20 years ago. But I refuse to believe we can no longer be a contender. We are so close and are only missing it with self destructive mistakes every year.

I have a list of things that are costing us.

1) Poor conditioning (Our lines can not play shoulder to shoulder for a full game.
2) Poor discipline - Too many drives are killed because of False Starts, too many drives our prolonged because of poor tackling EDIT: and a systemic problem with ball control that I believe is a result of not enough contact scrimmage. The poor tackling can be blamed on that too.
3) Poor play calling (is getting better)
4) Attrocious player development - Very few players actually get better in fact it has not been unusual for certain players to get worse while they are here.

Our skills positions are actually our greatest strengths. The ability to get good players to come to Nebraska is not an issue.

I will admit that I'm being a terrible negative nancy right now.....

But damn........I'm tired of being the creator of all things kool-aid related and then having someone piss in my kool-aid.

Maybe it's time for me to do a little pissin' myself.

LMAO....

Who keeps pissin' in yer Kool-Aid? I've learned not to fill my glass. It's part of the process; Bo say's; You cant get too high and can't get too low, of course everybodies high's and low's vary...
Jest keep tellin' yerself, it's part of the process and all things good will happen to those who wait.

Meh......I guess I'm pretty much just numb to it all by now.....

Like I said, I want Nebraska to compete, but I really don't expect us to beat anyone anymore. I think the history of Nebraska Football pretty much goes as follows.......

We played in a really shitty Conference that was overrated many years, and Oklahoma shat on us during that entire period of time with the exception of the couple of years that we had guys taking steroids and had a couple stud RBs.........then Osborne left and reality set in. We are the equivalent of a one-hit wonder basically. We aren't supposed to be great here.......we just think we are because we had a whole bunch of winning seasons vs. Pacific University, Kansas, Colorado, Iowa State, etc etc.....

Now that teams are becoming equal in College Football we are struggling like the hick program that we are.

With Mad Dog as our coach, how can any fan expect Nebraska to beat anyone that has a few good athletes anymore?

Jed, we just plain suck.....it's because we're Nebraska. That's why.

We could get Nick Saban here and still all we would get is mediocre recruits with mediocre results. We will never be great again.

Are you serious? Wow!

Georgia.. 47
Nebraska 20

A slow start for Nebraska takes them out of their ball control game plan early. Georgia mounts a double digit halftime lead. Nebraska plays a fairly even 3rd Q, but finishes with a 4th quarter meltdown.

Not sure where I get all that from.

Ouch. RA went full retard.

I got NU 28-21

Lots of FG's, having some guys back that've been nicked will help out a bit on offense. Having TA healthy will be all the rage. Don't really see a high scoring event, but that all depends on how good we leave UGA after the fumbles

I sucked in my bowl pickems but at least I can say I picked Nebraska. Red_Alert can't.

Because Red_Alert did not pick Nebraska I think that should count as a -25 or something.

Can we vote on the new rule implementation?
