The Bears are stuck with their shitty ass coach a few more years.

54-11. Ouch.

We'll see what the difference is this coming weekend. If they win, the difference is obvious. If they don't, it's still obvious. ;)

Obviously we're back to square one. Is Stafford the answer? do we need to draft one to compete with him? Lots of questions all over.

What's the difference between the Lions and Bears? They're on the way up. The Lions remain irrelevant.

Here's to next year:suds: ......Again.

One is likely going to the playoffs and one will be watching them. One is a proud and storied franchise and one is fucking bag of shit.

The Bears and Lions are in a very similar position right now. While Stafford is clearly better than Cutler, I don't think either one is going to ever lead their team to a SB, especially playing with the defenses that they have been given this year. The one bright spot I see in this year is that if the Bears sign Cutler (which I hope they don't), I think his price tag significantly dropped. Signing him for anything more than $12 million a year is overpaying in my opinion.

The Lions are actually in a little tougher spot, because it's going to be much harder for them to get rid of Stafford. At least that's my take.

Expectations.

Excellent one-word answer. The Bears expect to win. Losing is unacceptable. The Lions expect to lose. Winning is a bonus.

Shitting on Stafford is the new hotness, just like it was hip to jock him after his 50 TD 5000 yard season, just like it was hip to shred the personal lives of the replacement refs etc..etc...the media guides us (well most of us).

I saw a stat that said Stafford was something like 1-25 vs. winning teams or something, yet nobody mentions how in 2012 the Lions won 8 games against teams who finished 8-8, 8 teams who would have finished with winning records had the Lions not beaten them.

100% true that this staff has never been able to get over that hump and beat the top teams in the NFC, but it's not because of Stafford. Get him a real OC and a real HC and he'll be back to his 2012 form when he still had confidence in himself and everyone around him.

If you mean we are back to square one coaching wise I agree. If you mean roster wise I disagree. Mayhew had an exceptional draft and the lions are actually just a few good players short of being great. They need a linebacker, a DE, and one elite corner on defense. They need a real kicker. Stafford needs to mature and not make stupid mistakes but he is the answer at qb. If they can fill those positions they will be legit. They do need more obviously but those alone will turn this team around. I hardly think they are back at square one. They had a productive offseason and an improved record to show for it. Some over zealous fans got caught up in the SportsHoopla when they were squeaking out wins against inferior teams and went overboard but most of us all along realized who they were so their weak finish at the end of the season shouldnt take away from their progression as a whole.

Agree, before stafford shit himself he had two haters, smitty and jayfan? Now that hes playing poorly they sre coming out in droves. He will be a great qb and the knee jerk reactions from folks trying to find a scapegoat are ridiculous. As if we would be winning more games with shaun hill. Anyhow they are no different than the fans that sold MIggy, JV and vmart up the river last season. Staff is no miggy or JV, but I would like to think he can at least hold vmarts cup.

Im sorry kreton, its hard to find any of your posts to have any credibility. After all the lions had the division locked down and were legitimate super bowl contenders in your eyes three weeks ago.

I've never been a big Stafford fan. Early this year, when he was playing at a high level, there wasn't really much for me to say about him, because I still didn't believe he was elite. I just think he is an above average, borderline top 10 QB. Very similar to Matt Ryan.

With a above average or great defense, I think the Lions, similar to the Falcons, would have a shot to make a playoff run. But I still wouldn't trust either of them (or Cutler for that matter) in a do or die game against SEA, SF, NO, CAR. Just my opinion.

They are very similar. This years second half collapse was very Bears like. If I didnt see all the games I would have thought that our QB was Jay Cutler. Stafford looks Eerily like him on the field these days.

Now Bears fans can make fun of us for choking away the division. The sad part is that this is an improvement over the last 2 decades for us.

I love Stafford. He has to improve though. If bringing another QB to lite a fire under his ass would take him to the next leve then I say do it.

And Detroit is stuck with Stafford's 91-93 million guaranteed contract. A lot of money for a side arm relief pitcher!

The NFC North is awful!

Stafford has shown moments of greatness. He needs a coach that get him to that level permanently. He has got to improve though.

I keep hearing the same message and even have said it myself. But what if it can't be corrected? What if he is just a mechanically unsound QB. The same way people believed Tim Tebow could be fixed with the right coaching maybe Stafford has the same flaws?

Thats a problem a huge one! I get having to go the QB guru route with that much cash tied up but it's not as simple as Kelly or O'Brian will fix him.

I meant coaching and possibly schematically. I believe the Lions are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. I hope they can find a coach that can utilize it and not tamper with the nucleus to much. We've seen it how many times where the new staff wants smaller speedier guys then the next coach wants bigger guys. Hopefully the new hire can just take this core and run with it. I'd prefer proven but I wonder what Urban Meyer could do in the NFL?
