Bama was anywhere from 3.5 to 6 pt favorites.

So, it certainly was not a case where everyone expected Texas to win.

I think Texas could have won if McCoy didn't get hurt, but that is one of those great "what ifs".

Vegas != talking heads.

Bama is consistently underestimated by fans, though usually not by the teams that face them. The best time to beat Bama is during the regular season. Give Saban a month to prepare and a shot at another crystal football, and the chances of beating Bama drops precipitously.

Which is why the playoffs will be real interesting...Would love to see how Saban does in that 2nd game when he only has a week to prepare

Good point. Bama likely loses some advantage there.

I would not doubt the 09,11 or 12 teams would do quite well in that situation. Not so sure this years team has what it takes to make it all the way. Lots of ball left and ANY TEAM counting their chickens before they have hatched is foolish, if you ask me.

Never bet against Saban is my motto.

Give Saban well over a month to prepare for one team, Bama wins easily. Give Saban a week to prepare for Oregon, Oregon drops 50 +, however, I think Bama matches Oregon TD for TD.....

Oregon 56

Bama 49

it was a fluke injury.

Ndmakong Suh tossed McCoy around like a rag doll the previous game.
Nobody was more vicious and full of dirty intentions than Suh.

Suh was flat out scary and purposely was looking to hit McCoy with malice and brutality. If there was anytime for McCoy to "Tap out" it would have been justified in the Nebraska game.

But surprisingly, McCoy did not get hurt from that beat down and Suh rampage.
It was a seemingly routine play versus Alabama hit the nerve perfectly and ended his career.

Those are the vagaries and fortunes of football.

Picking Oregon over Alabama just because Oregon is sexy, and Alabama runs a pro system is idiotic.

Predicting Oregon to score 56 points on a Nick Saban team after he's had a month to game plan is pure mental illness.

Basically all the national talking heads have picked against Alabama in each of the last 3 national championships. So, this is nothing new.

Miami in 92 was supposed to blow Alabama out.
Texas in 09 was supposed to win.
LSU was supposed to win in 11 because they had already done it.
Notre Dame defense was supposed to be way too much for Alabama with Teo back there.

:noidea:

I did think 92 Miami would crush Bama. But EVERYBODY I knew disagreed with me and they were right

Bama v Texas, the game doesn't count without McCoy, right? And most favored Bama, how do you figure otherwise?

LSU in 11 or ND in 12 over Bama? nobody realistic thought that would happen, get real.

Saban loses all the time in bowl games other than when he has an especially overwhelming talent superiority like he has had the last few years.

And note the big humongous LBs Saban bases his 3-4 base D in. would they be any match for Oregon's speed?

I still here about how if McCoy hadn't got hurt. People in this thread saying it. So what does that say about what people thought before the game?

LSU was said to win again because they had done it once and had such a great season.

And all I heard was about how ND was going to handle Alabama, the 3 year coach thing at ND, blah blah blah.

Bama is consistently underestimated by fans of other teams, .

Probably the dumbest thing I've heard. Saban has assembled the most talented teams in history at Bama, nobody can realistically expect to beat them, until Oregon this year. Hence the thread

Well, you have really dumb friends. But really, nobody had a chance at Bama until this year. Oregon. And Oregon might win big. How much do you think Oregon wins by?

IMO

I though Mccoy was Texas' offense. He was everything to them, it would of been closer at least, can't say Texas would of won bc nobody knows.

LSU--I went to that first game. I saw it. Bam's kicker sucked, that's what I saw. I was sure that wouldn't happen again. My buddy (LSU fan) put a shit ton on LSU. I told him it won't happen again, and it wasn't a game.

ND- I thought ND had no chance in hell. I though ND was overrated, but was undefeated so deserved it.

We are talking about how bad Oregon beats Bama in Jan. That is in the future. How much do you think Oregon wins by?

What if Oregon loses??

Will you feel the same, bc we see it over and over every year.

Best chance they had was when they played Auburn. That was a beastly team, just played Cam (Superman).

Oregon isn't going to win, and they won't match up well against Alabama. Now be dumb and compare them to A&M.

It's the same shit I hear every year, and of course everyone is the expert in hindsight and knew what was going to happen.

CBS and ESPN picked LSU to win in 11

Lou Holtz picked ND to beat Bama....
