And this shows you that you clearly don't remember the 90's at all. Go check it out, you may be surprised that college football existed prior to 2003.

the 90s belonged to Miami, Florida State, Nebraska, Florida, Michigan had one great year that was in '97. Rest they were completely irrelevant.

Michigan also hasn't done shit since 97.

I didn't phrase it like that for a reason. That was just 1 example of why they don't. USC has been playing in the Coliseum since the 20's and has been viewed as their home stadium for quite some time, despite who technically controlled the arena. Playing on a baseball field is pretty different.

Yes, it has been USC's "home field" since the 20's!! However, at the same time that it was USC's home field, it has also been:

The Los Angeles Rams home field.
The Los Angeles Raiders home field.
The Los Angeles Express home field.
The UCLA Bruins home field.
The Los Angeles Dodgers home field.

That's not true at all!! Since '97 they've gotten their butts kicked in the Rose Bowl twice by USC!!

And 1 national championship in that time frame is more than most teams have. I'll hang my hat on that, considering I can remember watching my team win a national title. I'll take that any day over a slightly better winning percentage in the past 14 years.

I respect your opinion on, but it doesn't make sense to me. Would I rather have a NC 17 years ago, and then a program struggling the past decade, or one of the hottest teams around the past decade? I have to go with the hotter team.

I've actually thought about this ... I am a Braves fan and was a STH from 1990 - 2002. During the Braves 14 years Division Champ run, they only won 1 World Series, and played in several more. During that same time, the Marlins and the Blue Jays each won a pair of WSC, but pretty much sucked in other years. While I always wished that the Braves won more, I always thought it was best to be the fan of the Braves and their better win percentage than to be a Marlins or Blue Jays fan who had mostly bad years except for those two seasons. No right or wrong, just each to his or her own I suppose.

I'm not sure what hole I dug. I think Oregon bragging about facilities is getting tired and old. I wanted to take them down a notch.

The problem is that you didn't succeed, you just make yourself look like a douchebag. Nobody gives a shit about what some old coot said 80 years ago about a stupid nail. Well, that is except people who don't have anything to point at today and have to go back 80 years to talk about "tradition." And while I like tradition just fine, it simply doesn't trump current performance of which Michigan is sorely lacking.

So, you only succeeded in knocking UM down a notch. Well played.

You might want to add Alabama. 1991 11-1
1992 13-0 won
1994 11-0 and lost 24-23 to 9-1-1 Florida in title game.
10-1 several times before losing competitive games to Florida in SEC champ game.

I never said facilities don't matter. Kids like new stuff, but most major teams have had new stuff for a while. Oregon thinks they're special because this is the first time anyone's ever put major money into their program. While great for you, the 10 celebratory threads a month about a weight room is tiring.

First time??

until 1967 Oregon played at Hayward Field (Oregon's legendary track and field facility) when a Portland lumberman donated the money for Autzen.
81 a $650,000 meeting room complex, the Donald Barker Stadium Club, was constructed on the east rim above the end zone. The addition gave the stadium its first meeting facilities.
In 1988, a $2.3 million renovation built a new press box on the south side of the stadium and converted the original north side press box to luxury suits
1991 Oregon opens the Casanova Center served as locker rooms and medical treatment center and offices.
1998 Moshofsky center housing Oregons indoor practice field which converts to batting cages for baseball and softball as well as an indoor driving range for golf.
In 2002, a $90 million facelift and expansion added seating and luxury boxes to the south sideline, bringing the stadium seating capacity up to its current level.
2013 football performance center (the new facility being posted)
but yeah THIS is the FIRST time. good call.

No, I mean peaked. I don't think Oregon will ever have a decade, like most major programs, where they win multiple national titles.

Which decade did Michigan have multiple national titles?

So tradition for Michigan is winning no national titles while Schembechler was at the helm. What a joke.

Well, you might not care - but that doesn't make the point any less true. Shouldn't it say something that even with Oregon's facilities, and even with a team that's been consistently winning for the past 8 years Michigan is still able to out-recruit them? Why stop at Michigan, Clemson, FSU, Georgia, Texas - the list goes on. While it has improved their recruiting classes and while they have jumped into the top 10 class rankings here or there - there's still something missing at the school. It's the same thing that allows Michigan to go 3-9 and pull in top 10 recruiting classes. It's the same thing that's allowed ND to recruit so well while sucking for 20 years. The fact is, tradition matters.

I was strictly speaking of Michigan vs. OSU in the 90's. You know, where you said something like - OSU's been kicking our butt for decades.

Again, this has nothing to do with my particular team views. Let's just assume I'm an Alabama fan. My sentiments towards where Oregon is headed does not change.

I am going to start calling him rustynail....

I'd consider it an honor, given what it stands for. That rusty nail represents over 120 years of winning; not 8.
