Since the inception of the crystal ball, that is the main one that mattered. Why do you think in the BCS doesnt even CALCULATE the AP votes!?!?!?!?

Because the AP pulled itself out of the equation when USC and then Auburn got screwed out of the NCG!! That's why!! Prior to that, the AP was included!!

Let's be honest here OD, Oregon "builds it" because Uncle Phil is alive-n-well and seeling sneakers and golf clubs is all.

Oregon State is heading to the "Big House" to visit the "ghosts of Bo" soon enough. Michigan will have all they can handle from the 2nd best that the State of Oregon has to offer. Let's just start there with that.

The State of Oregon does not have, nor do we want, 1 thing that the State of Michigan does have...DETROIT, and GL2U with that "ball-n-chain" of a city.:laugh3:

I wont be shocked at all when the Beavs walk in to the Big House and spank Michigan. You can hear a mouse fart in that joint. The quitest 100,000 plus I have ever heard... I was very disappointed by the Big House. I had huge expectations...

Now Neyland in Knoxville..... That place kicked ass....

I still think who awarded national titles is irrelevant. In a couple of years with the BCS trophies be irrelevant because there's a new system?

As relevant as any past trophies are.

There has typically been a selection body of some sort that was recognized as the primary voice. For a long time that was the AP. Then in the 90's, some people wanted to start making it more "official" (and make beaucoup dinero in the process), which is how the Bowl Coalition became the Bowl Alliance became the BCS. I mean you were literally just trumpeting the 97 AP trophy a few pages back, weren't you?

Long story short, Minnesota used to be a powerhouse. Then things changed and they weren't. Tradition in and of itself will not sustain a program's success in the face of shifting demographics and a lack of institutional support from university hierarchy.

Yeah, I think the top 20 programs in the country can make a very valid argument that they have the best facilities.

At a certain point what argument is there? You have bad ass facilities, we have bad ass facilities, they have bad ass facilities.

Oregon's are just done differently and have a ton of bling and swag...

To each their own... a Bama plorster said it best....

"Oregon's facilities are awesome, but that would stick out like a sore thumb in SEC land"

:agree: Well said!!

Seriously? Bro just stop while you are behind.... No need to dig the hole any deeper. The football program is in its infancy...

I disagree, only time will tell which one is correct.

Dude, there are 2 things you don't understand very well.

1. Football tradition

2. Football

Michigan is not very good right now while Oregon is very nearly at the top of the pyramid. Don't be so envious on a message board. Be envious with your fellow UM fans but don't embarrass yourself like this.

You tried to take Minnie down with you but FAILED. Quit while you are behind. If you are trying to troll, just fugget about it already.

I understand both pretty well. Oregon is stable right now, but is in no way a program I expect to stick around. I didn't try to take Minnesota down, I'm not the one that tried to insinuate they're a national power. The Minnesota of the 30's and early 40's is nothing more than Oregon in it's current form - but with national titles. If anything, it proves my point that programs do this all the time. They have a decent decade and then fall back into mediocrity.

It's clearly not, since the AP national title was awarded before and after any of that was created. It's been the most consistent national title in the history of CFB.

the more and more this thread turns into Michigan history, I am starting to wonder what tradition Michigan truly has?

Seems like they don't have all that many titles, but a piece of wood plaque that states they shared the title with someone.

They have been under Ohio States shadow for decades.

And this shows you that you clearly don't remember the 90's at all. Go check it out, you may be surprised that college football existed prior to 2003.

Kinda like UM is doing right now?

No, Minnesota was good for a decade. They won almost all of their titles within a 10 year span and then fell off the face of the earth. If anything, it proves my point as to exactly what I think Oregon is headed for; especially if USC gets smart and hires a real coach some day.

Those comebacks aren't too bad, you are smarter than I thought you were. But you in a hole to deep to dig your way out of. Better to just fugget about it.

Well, the difference being that programs like us don't stay down long unless you're Notre Dame. How many programs can say they've only had 2 losing seasons in the past, what, 50 years?

I'm not sure what hole I dug. I think Oregon bragging about facilities is getting tired and old. I wanted to take them down a notch. There are a lot more Oregon fans on here than I expected though and it's quite hard to respond to that many posts. Sometimes you wish you could post things as a non-biased entity. My team that I'm a fan of is irrelevant to my point. I don't hate Oregon, we rarely play them and they even more rarely impact our season. I just think they're in for a shock when they figure out some time soon that you can't buy good football teams.

No!! I'm making fun of you thinking that a team requires a stadium to have tradition!!

I didn't phrase it like that for a reason. That was just 1 example of why they don't. USC has been playing in the Coliseum since the 20's and has been viewed as their home stadium for quite some time, despite who technically controlled the arena. Playing on a baseball field is pretty different.

No better means that it's at most on an equal level. It doesn't necessarily imply that there are ones that are better. It's all based on personal opinion. It's a locker room for gods sake. A new building is a new building.

Once schembechler hall is completed, Michigan will have either built new or modified every single football facility on campus. So your notion is not based on any facts.

Oh so now facilities matter:yahoo:

With all of that said, I have an early morning.

I didn't mean any personal insult to Oregon fans for this thread. I just happen to think that Oregon has peaked and the great facility threads are getting old. Worst case for me, I'm proven wrong. I have no problem with that.

I never said facilities don't matter. Kids like new stuff, but most major teams have had new stuff for a while. Oregon thinks they're special because this is the first time anyone's ever put major money into their program. While great for you, the 10 celebratory threads a month about a weight room is tiring.
