What scares you?

Coming into this season? For me it is the same thing as every year! WHERE'S OUR FUCKING GOALIE? I love where we are defensively, but that still doesn't stop that lame fluky goal that ends up costing a very important game( game 6). Unless leighton can quit letting in soft goals we are not solid there.. IDK, it just seems they would have pursued someone a little harder than they did.. Maybe I am premature in saying all this but I just don't see it. I hope I am proven wrong.. I wonder why there has been so many bad decisions there in the last 10 years or so. We have had a few flash in the pan goalies but never a solid year in and year out performer.

he lets in 2 or 3 soft goals and now everybody thinks that is all he does. we lost to a crazy team. nothing really worries me about this team right now. i will wait until the season starts. chicago won last year with a similar team.

Ok just a few quick ones off the top of my head.. The first 3 goals of game 7 against the Bruins, Which we got lucky to win. Um, the Winter classic goal that we lost. There were several. 4 in Game 1 against the Hawks. Man Scott I could go on but it hurts my fuckin dope saturated brain to think of ALL of them. Not all of them cost us games but they don't help.

No I just seem to think we need a better goalie. End of conversation. I didn't start this thread to argue points, I started to voice an opinion and you are feel free to do so. If you have no fears about this team then so be it. If you think leighton is the answer, well then Rock on! I just whole heartily disagree..

Both of you stop. We are all Flyer fans and tis isnt a dog eat dog board. Yes Leighton can let in weak goal. Yes he can be good. Dont forget that we had two pairs out in front of him with one of those pairs being very tired. Next year we have 3 solid pairs. All goalies will let in bad goals. I understand both of your arguements but take into consideration what he has done and how our D has improved.

yes and that is why i am not afraid of leighton as our starter. would i like another guy in case leighton is not good enough? sure. i am not scared though.

See that was my whole point.. I didn't say he would do these things, I was saying this is something that scares me as a fan from the things I saw him do last year. Also if I remember correctly you and a few others shared these complaints. Not trying to start shit with anybody, I just stated something I was concerned with. I wont change my point of view so why argue with me? nIf you have no concerns why try to attack mine? Whatever..

And I am scared that he wont play like he did last year. In the case he does I am fine.

Possibly losing a consistent goal scorer and penalty killer troubles me.

Getting Shelley kinda puzzles me.

Okay I guess "scares" was not the proper term, although we both know how we felt about Leighton last year, It worries me as to wether he was a fluke or not. If he would have performed well with a poor "D" in front of him( a la Anderson) then I would be ecstatic with the "D" we have now. But that wasn't the case. I guess time will tell.. Like I said, I truly hope I am wrong.

I know, I still think Scares might be the wrong term. I guess concerns would have sounded better.. But I still wonder why we can't ever land an elite top tier goalie when that is our weak point a whole lot of the time?

This sounds violently crazy but give it a second. Michael Leighton is a modern day Ron Hextall. Start playing full time when you lose your goalie, play decent, make it to the finals, lose. He never had the chance to be a number 1 and he showed what he is capable of last year. If he can play like he did last year consistently the waiting for a goalie is over.
