I honor of the NHLs strike & most likely a loss of majority of a season, apparently EA sports felt they can put out a steaming pile of crap for NHL13... Yikes, this is definately gonna be a long winter since without real hockey I dont even have fun video game hockey to tie me over... Anyone else pick up this pile of garbage yet... lol you cant even control the goalies arms & legs anymore in goalie mode... Its lik playing with a bubble hockey goalie

I imagine it will get better once they adjust the online sliders, but for now its pretty brutal. The goalies are amp'd way up so most Online Team Play games with CPU goalies are 1-0, 2-1 games. I havnt tried versus yet. The new skating engine is pretty bad IMO. Players do not transition forward to backwards or different directions like they do in this game. Sometimes when skating forward and you want to turn around, the turning radius is wider then more then half the rink. Thats definately not realistic. The screwed up OTP & EASHA goalie mode as you no longer use the right analog to control your goalies arms & legs. You dont even control the arms & legs anymore, you just move the goalie in from of the puck and the computer makes the same. its terrible. I used to be really good at goalie & enjoy it. The graphics took a major hit & remind me of a 2K game. i donno why they downgraded them so much. Its almost like they forgot to add any detail while texture mapping the game -- That wont be able to be fixed with upgrades or patches, graphics are graphics & we are stuck with them. They are also very choppy (that might be the EA servers, im not sure)... OTP Be a Pro, every charecter style no matter if you pick grinder or playmaker has the same numbers which is dumb as fawk! Everyone starts with every category at 55 across the board. So a grinder has the same passing as a playmaker who has the same shooting as a sniper... Basically it looks like they rewarded the noobs that complained that the good players were skating circles around them, so they nerfed everything. I avgd about 3.40PPG in about 4-500 games last year. This year ive been lucky to get 1 a game, if that. Like I said, I havnt tried versus mode, and that might be ok, but EASHL & OTP suck bad. They added more strategys though which is cool, but I have no idea how to work them yet lol Goals all seem random and majority of the goalie saves look like highlight reel desperation saves. Its on you if you wanna buy it, I buy the game every year & play it weather its shitty or not, cause there isnt any other options out there. But IMO it definately isnt as good as NHL12 at this point.

Another thing I cant figure out is normally I play center, so in the defensive catergory I dump everything into faceoffs & dicipline and dont bother with checking, aggession, stick checking def aware etc... Well I went to max out my faceoffs and once I got to 82 in FO's it said N/A... wtf is that??

Also, cause the controls and agility are so bad right now and speed & acc dont seem to matter, I redid my charecter and in the athleticism catergorys I dumped all the points I had into agility & balance & endurance. I put some in strenght to but barely any. Left speed & acc at whatever they start as and controlling my guy is a lot better now... Still cant score worth a doo doo but at skate I can skate better and its somewhat responce to where Im actually telling the guy to go.

Umm honestly I cant think of any recent NHL game that I enjoy NHL13 over... This "realistic skating" its like retards trying to run on vasoline covered tarp... The lemming on the EA forum praise the skating "if youve ever played real hockey this skating is as close as you can get" "you just dont like the game cause you suck!"... Well Im guessing these idiots have never played real hockey cause pee-wees skate better then this and it doesnt even take them the width of half the rink to make a U-turn, and I dont like the game because IT sucks... Its like a bunch of guys with no force/leg strength to dig in or keep the skate blades in the ice...

Ive read so far that there are a lot of buggy things going on with HUT & EASHL also

try renting it, you may like it.... to me its just a snooze fest of 1-0 4OT games that took playmaking out of the equasion and is more of a chore to play then entertainment. Tonight was the first time since NHL91 came out that I came home from (back then was school, then evolved to work, then evolved to bar) wherever I was Id come home looking forward to my new NHL game, but tonight I put the game in the system, it loaded up and I looked at it and said, fuck this, id rather just goto sleep... To me its honestly THAT bad...
