Boch and Sabean signed extensions through 2016+option for 2017 (2 years on top of their last extension).

If Sabean stays his entire tenure, he will be a 20 year GM for SF.

If Boch stays his entire tenure, he would be a 10 year Manager for SF.

Also, Ramon Ramirez resigned with SF, will start season in Fresno.

I don't remember what thread this came up in, but we were discussing MLB TV contracts and how the Giants missed out on it. Their contract is structured to where they get a certain percentage of revenue from CSN-BA, which is very different from most other TV contracts.

Well, who's laughing now?

5,000,000 TV households tuned in for 89 live pro games in April on Comcast SportsNet | CSN Bay Area

I don't think it can get more miscellaneous than this.

Astounding Fact of the Week

Always-entertaining Dodgers utility whiz Skip Schumaker took the mound last week for his second career pitching appearance -- and again hit 90 miles per hour on the local radar guns. Which inspired this fun tidbit, via Brooks Baseball's handy Pitch f/x tool:
• Skip Schumaker since 2007: 46 pitches, hit 90-plus 10 times.
Barry Zito since 2007: 17,469 pitches, hit 90-plus zero times.

How many 90+ pitches has R.A. Dickey thrown?

Zito is not a fire-baller. So, while an interesting tid-bit about Schumaker, It says absolutely nothing about Zito.

As long as the results are like they were in St. Louis during Game 5 last year, Zito can throw 55 MPH for all I care.....

Who said it was meant as a cut on Zito? Just because I root for your hated rival, does not mean I hate on them or their fans.

I did not mean it as a "shoot the messenger" post. Sorry if it came across that way.

Even if you do have horrid taste in teams...

It's all good. And, I know I am more exception than rule when it comes to fandom.

Let me see if you can give me this though. I lived in So Cal until I was 15 ( i'm old and crusty now ), but moved to the S.F bay area, and have lived there since. That said, I kept my fandom (as you can see by my avatar area ), as I don't believe in switching alleginces after one has already picked their teams.

And, it would have been very easy for me to quit and "go to the dark side", but I didn't, and take abuse pretty regular around here because of it.

If that is not weird and different enough, I am also a huge fantasy baseball guy, and I NEVER let my fandom get in the way of a winning fantasy team or season.

It is with that in mind that I would like you to thank Mr. Brandon Crawford for really learning how to hit this year, and would hope that you could help me understand that the deal is with Matt Cain? I need him to come around, and much sooner than later.

Agree.

Good natured smack with the enemy can be fun, but I suspect we are all a bit quick to snap when we see either the Blue and White or the Black and Orange (depending on your POV).

Cain was/is a fire-baller. Although, as 99.9% of pitchers experience, he is beginning to lose a few miles from his max as he reaches his late 20s. He is also in the midst of adding more junk to his quiver, and most of the HRs he has given up have been on these new pitches that have gotten away from him.

It was a bad month, for sure, but his peripherals were actually pretty good. He has a different mental (as well as physical) makeup from Timmeh, so we all expect him to have an easier transition from young fireballer to pitcher than Timmeh had/is having.

To take the Matty/Timmeh comparison one step further, remember that Matty is actually younger. We got him out of HS while Timmeh was a college player. So to see him make his transition after Timmeh is not surprising.

Totally agree.

Just had an exchange with a Dodger fan on FB. A picture he posted with the title "F&^% the Giants" had a comment on it that said "I hope Ethier hit's one right on the river tonight"......

The River? Really? lol

That Schumaker/Zito piece is great. I respect a loyal fan of any team. That said, I look forward to watching a bunch of really rich Southern Californians waste some millions tonight! Go Giants!
